Chapter 113 Anklet
A layer of red silk sat inside the box. A delicate anklet rested on the center.
It was an anklet.
Outside the private suite, Vance still watched through the cracked door. His eyes drew tight as he remembered Brie’s ankle piece. Kaleb had given Brie a heavy chain. It looked pricey, but it looked like something a guard would snap on a captive.
The one Draven chose for Cassia looked nothing like that.
The chain looked thin and refined, and it held one teardrop stone.
The gem was not ruby. It was not any stone Cassia knew. The candlelight touched the gem. The glow spread through it like water light rippling across a crystal cavern. The shine spread in waves that felt soft and alive.
She held up the anklet and checked it out.
Even though she was a pro, she couldn’t identify the gemstone.
It was a glowing bead that was the size of a bean. It was milky white, and soft streaks of icy blue drifted through it.
It wasn’t any kind of ruby she knew. Certainly not imperial ruby either. She pressed her thumb on the surface.
A warm touch met her skin. A faint cool slip followed. It did not shock her. It felt like warm spring water drifting under smooth stone.
Her instincts told her this stone stayed warm in winter and cool in summer. It held energy that could support the body.
In the other suite, Seven dragged in a sharp breath. His eyes widened. “Oh my God. Mr. Grey, you actually gave that up?”
He was not staring at the anklet. He was staring at the gem.
Jason had planted a tiny camera and microphone in the suite earlier. He claimed it was for Draven’s safety. It was also because he burned with curiosity about why a man like Draven would fly across the country for a girl.
Seven had followed Jason into a separate private suite when he saw him sneaking away with gossip written across his face.
He almost screamed when he caught Jason watching Draven through the monitor.
Jason slammed his hand over Seven’s mouth before a sound escaped. Draven would’ve noticed otherwise.
If Draven found out they were spying, their lives would drop off a cliff that night.

Chapter 113 Anklet
Jason let Seven stay only because he needed him to keep this secret.
Seven fought it for a moment. His curiosity won. He pulled up a chair and sat down beside him.

During the next thirty minutes, the two men watched Draven burn down his own title as Vrastin’s coldest
man.
He smiled. He lowered his voice. He served Cassia the most expensive steak on the planet. He handed her a gift. He looked at her like she was the only soul in the room.
“This can’t be the same Draven,” Seven whispered. “The ice king vanished.”
Jason leaned closer. Shock stretched across his face. “That’s the one he bought at the Dolfus auction. He spent a fortune on it.”
He stared harder. His disbelief grew wider.
“She looks like she adores it. Mr. Grey nailed this gift.” Seven leaned in close to the monitor.
“She will not accept it that fast.” Jason spoke in a calm tone.
Seven turned toward Jason. He blinked at him.
“How would she turn this down? This gift is perfect. I would take it right away.”
“I think this girl is not like most girls. She does not chase fancy things.”
“Uh…”
So you think I chase fancy things?
Seven was ready to snap back when Cassia’s voice came from the monitor.
“Thank you for the offer. But I did say I cannot take what I did not earn. I will not accept this gift.” Cassia placed the anklet back inside the box.
She really would not take it.
Jason actually got it right.
Seven felt panic rise for Cassia.
This was the rare Venus‘ Teardrop. People fought for it at the auction. Only a few could afford it.
And Draven still looked calm. Even when she turned him down to his face.
Draven held the box and looked at Cassia. “You helped me before. So I ask you to take it. I need to repay that.”
Helped him?
