Cassia sat down at the table, and Draven handed her a spoon.

“When I got here, I cooled off the mushroom soup for you. The temperature’s just right now, so you don’t have to worry about burning your mouth.” Draven wiped the table as he spoke.

Cassia kept watching Draven’s hands as he worked.

His fingers were long and slender, with clean, neatly trimmed nails–just pleasant to look at.

Draven noticed that Cassia seemed really interested in his hands, and his usually calm eyes softened with a hint of amusement.

“You’re pretty interested in my hands, aren’t you?”

“You’re being a little too nice to me.”

Cassia raised an eyebrow at Draven, her lips curving into a smile.

“You could also think of it this way. Maybe fate thought life was too hard on you before, so it sent me to you as a little compensation. You’re allowed to accept it.”

Cassia had always thought of Seven as Draven’s sidekick.
