Cassia couldn’t help but sigh. What a rough start. I should’ve known better than to agree to that deal.

She glanced toward the group of men nearby. The moment her cold eyes swept over them, they froze, nervous and uneasy.

Meanwhile, Vance was speeding from home, his face dark with anger. He parked his car in front of the police station and slammed the door shut..

Brie and Danica were already waiting at the entrance. When they saw the stormy look on their father’s face, neither dared to say a word. They quietly moved aside, afraid of getting caught in his temper.

Vance stormed into the station. He spotted a young officer nearby, grabbed his arm, and said impatiently, Hey, officer, can I ask you something?

The young cop frowned, clearly irritated at being stopped. He looked Vance up and down, his tone sharp and proud. What is it?

Vance’s expression turned grim, his temper rising. What kind of attitude is this?

After all, he was the CEO of a public listing company, one of the most recognizable figures in Zrario. Even the police chief showed him some respect.

But this young patrol officer was acting like he didn’t care who Vance was, and that made his blood boil. All because of Cassia. That brat was the reason he had to swallow his pride and stand here being ignored.

Still, he had to find out what was going on. He reminded himself that he was here to get information, not to lose his temper. He forced his voice to stay calm. Officer, I heard you brought in a girl who got into a fight with some punks. Where is she now? Her name’s Cassia Wood.

Cassia Wood?the officer said, suddenly remembering. Oh rightthe one who took down three guys all by herself? That scene had definitely left an impression. Cases like that didn’t come by often.

Vance’s brows drew together tightly. That wasn’t something to be proud of.

And where is she now?he asked with a stormy face.

Just then, the door to the interrogation room opened.

The officer pointed toward it. Theresee? She’s coming out right now.

Vance followed the officer’s gaze and spotted a girl stepping out of the interrogation room. She looked about 17 or 18fair skin, slender figure, beautiful face, and a graceful air that made her stand out even in a crowd. Her waist was slim, her posture calm, and she carried herself with quiet confidence.

The sight of her made Vance’s anger flare. That was the cause of all this mess, and she didn’t even look guilty, not a trace of remorse on her face.

He forced a quick thank youto the officer, then strode forward with long, furious steps. His stern voice echoed sharply through the police station. Cassia! What did you do this time?

He didn’t bother to ask what happened first. He just lashed out, letting his frustration explode in front of

everyone.

His voice was so loud that half the station probably heard him; she couldn’t even pretend not to hear that.

Figured. He’s probably putting on a show, trying to look like a strict father as if that would somehow fix his pride.

Cassia had just finished giving her statement and was about to head home.

She stopped in her tracks and turned to Vance.

His face was dark and tense, like he was ready to skin her alive.

She blinked, puzzled. What are you doing here?

Cassia hadn’t called him. Honestly, this was such a minor issue. Did he really need to make such a big scene?

Hmph!Vance snapped. If I hadn’t come, do you think you’d be walking out of here? I didn’t want to bail you out, believe me. But I couldn’t just let you drag the family’s name through the mud. Can you, for once, stop causing trouble? I have a business to run! I don’t have time to clean up your mess every other day!His words were harsh and cold.

Cassia’s frown deepened, her eyes turning darker.

A flicker of malice crossed her face. No one asked you to come, she said flatly.

Youwhat did you just say? You’re actually talking back to your old man now?Vance’s voice rose. This brat doesn’t know what was good for her. Why did you get into a fight?

Cassia’s tone was calm but icy. Didn’t like their faces. They came looking for trouble, so I gave it to them,” she said, almost lazily, her eyes cold at the corners.

Those shameless words of hers almost gave Vance a heart attack.

He was certain nowCassia was born to ruin his peace. Ever since she came back, everything had gone against him.

His expression shifted dramatically as he glared at her. Ungrateful brat!
