“Yeah, Dad, she’s just out there making our family look bad! Imagine if people found out we had someone like her at home. How embarrassing would that be?” Danica’s voice over the phone dripped with fake concern as she exaggerated every word.
The family carried their pride like it was part of their blood–born into it, raised on it. They looked down on others, certain they were better than everyone else.
“Have the driver bring you two home. I’m coming,” Vance said, frowning deeply. He didn’t want to deal with it, but what choice did he have?
“Dad, let’s go together! She’s at the police station, just down the road from school.” Danica’s tone was eager. She wouldn’t miss this drama for the world.
After all, she’d been waiting for this day for a long time. In fact, she had specifically arranged the whole thing for Cassia.
After hanging up, Vance’s face turned dark. Geneva noticed right away. “What happened?” she asked,
uneasy.
The moment she heard Danica say something about a troublemaker, a bad feeling hit her.
“What happened?” Vance ground his teeth and snapped, “You brought that troublemaker home; that’s what happened! Ever since she showed up, the whole house has been a mess. And now she’s causing problems outside too. Guess what? She got into a fight with some street punks!” His face was red with anger, his voice almost shaking.
The word punks made Geneva’s heart stop. Her face went pale. “What? Cassia? What happened to her? Is she okay?”
Geneva’s heart pounded hard in her chest. She couldn’t believe it was real. Her daughter was so small and fragile. Those street punks were dangerous. What if they had hurt her? What had Cassia gone through?
Vance’s face was dark and tense. “She’s at the police station,” he said coldly. “This is beyond embarrassing. Soon everyone will be talking about our family’s shame.”
He was a well–known figure in Zrario, respected in business circles. Who would have thought his daughter would drag his name through the mud?
A scandal like this would probably travel fast.
“The police station?” Geneva almost fainted. “Honey, we need to go right now! We have to find out what happened!”
Vance’s face darkened with anger. “If she’s bold enough to start a fight, then she can deal with the consequences herself. Don’t expect me to bail her out!” he snapped.
He was fuming inside.
Same bloodline, same family. Why are Brie and Danica so well–behaved and polished, while she’s such a disaster?

Sure, she hadn’t grown up at home, but still, the family blood should’ve meant something. Good manners, basic discipline, some sense of dignity–those things should’ve been in her bones.
He rubbed his temples, his brows tightly knit. Now look at her. It’s been barely a few days since she came home and she’s already end up in the police station.
Gosh! I should’ve stopped her from coming home. I should’ve never let her live with us. If I’d just bought her a house somewhere else, none of this would be happening. All of my problems would be gone.
I was a fool from the start. I actually went out of my way to get her into Zrario High–what a waste of time and money. She’s hopeless. Completely hopeless.
Now she’d gone and caused trouble, and I’m the one who had to clean up the mess. Unbelievable. Absolutely ridiculous.
I’m going to explode!
He could feel the heat rising in his chest. He’d been tired and irritable. This was the last thing he needed.
“Please, honey, don’t be mad,” Geneva said nervously. “Let’s just go bail her out. Who knows what she’s been through? Once she’s home, I’ll talk to her properly.” Geneva panicked, completely at a loss. She had never dealt with anything like this before.
Deep down, she blamed herself. After being a housewife for so many years, she’d grown too dependent on her husband for everything.
But Vance’s patience was gone. “Oh, now you’re worried?” he snapped. “Didn’t I tell you not to act on impulse? Look at us now. It’s easy to invite trouble in, but getting rid of it–impossible! That girl’s a walking disaster. I swear, we’ll be cleaning up after her for the rest of our lives!”
Geneva looked helpless and upset, but there was nothing she could do. She didn’t dare show her anger, so she kept quiet and swallowed it down.
“Ugh, you’re just asking for trouble,” Vance muttered as he grabbed the jacket Geneva handed him. His tone was sharp and impatient. “I’ll go check it out.”
“Thanks, honey. I know how hard it is for you,” Geneva said softly, her voice a mix of relief and gratitude.
Inside the police station, Cassia sat in the interrogation room, calm and expressionless.
It was as if the whole mess had nothing to do with her.
The officers couldn’t help but stare at her strangely. Who is this girl? She looked so slim and delicate, but she’d gone up against three full–grown men and won. Even more shocking, the men now sat nearby, faces swollen and bruised, clearly no match for her.
The whole station was buzzing about it. No one would’ve believed it if they hadn’t seen it themselves.
Meanwhile, Cassia sat there leisurely. Not a single scratch on her.
