Chapter 152 Done Acting

Over at the Wood Manor, the three Wood sisters had already gone to bed, but Vance and Victoria sat in the living room discussing a topic remarkably similar to what Sterling’s parents had been talking about.
Victoria spoke bluntly, “I suspect Cassia was the one who took Sterling out. She hid him somewhere first, then waited for the right moment to bring him back.”
She continued, “Otherwise, how could the timing be so perfect? The moment I tried to take her out of the hospital, Sterling went missing?”
After a long silence, Vance spoke up, “We don’t have any proof. And besides, if she really did it, what would her motive be?”
“That kid has always had a strange and extreme temperament. Who knows what she’s really up to? Maybe she was just looking for a reasonable excuse to get discharged.” Victoria reasoned.
Then there was what had happened in the hospital room earlier, when that nurse’s words had left her utterly humiliated. Now that she had calmed down and thought about it, that nurse had seemed to be deliberately siding with Cassia.
It was possible the nurse had received some kind of benefit from Cassia and was intentionally helping her. And the medical records and test results might not have been real either.
“I’ve been thinking that once she’s old enough to marry, we should marry her off to some family.”
Victoria was very much in agreement with Vance’s suggestion.
The next day, Brie was going to compete in the Olympiad math competition at Zrario High, and the whole family was bustling around her, practically putting her on a pedestal. Even Geneva was too busy to bother with Cassia.
No one cared about Cassia, who had just been discharged from the hospital the night before.
Because the school needed to clear out classrooms for the competition participants, all the 12th Grade students who weren’t competing got the day off.
Cassia had been woken up early by all the clattering and banging from downstairs. With no hope of falling back asleep, she simply got out of bed.

The moment she got up, she saw a message from Draven on her phone.
“I ordered you some mushroom soup. It’ll be delivered before 7 a.m.”
Was it from the private kitchen at Atelier Zrario again?

Cassia had already spoken with Nicole, telling her that whenever Draven came to the hotel, everything would be on the house. She had also arranged for the best private room to be reserved for him at all times.
So she accepted Draven’s kindness without any guilt.
After freshening up, Cassia came out of her room.
“Danica, come try this. This mushroom soup is so good!” Brie said while sipping the mushroom soup at the table, waving Danica over.
“I’ll pass.” Danica sniffed the air. The fragrant aroma of the mushroom soup was making her mouth water.
She sat down next to Brie, her eyes fixed on the mushroom soup. She swallowed hard, then waved her hand dismissively, her cheeks flushed as she smiled at Brie. “Brie, you’ve been studying so hard these past few days. You need this more than I do. You need to be in top shape for the competition so you can win that guaranteed admission to Vego University and bring honor to our family!”
“Thanks, Danica. I’ll do my best to make the Woods proud!” Brie smiled and continued eating the mushroom soup.
“Yes! You’ve got this. I believe in you, Brie!”
Danica and Brie were getting along harmoniously, completely ignoring Cassia as she came downstairs, treating her like she was invisible.
Cassia stared at the mushroom soup and side dishes on the table.
That perfectly simmered mushroom soup and those delicate side dishes were all too familiar to her.
This was what Draven had sent for her.
Cassia walked up to the dining table.
“Who said you could eat that?”

Brie and Danica knew this was Cassia’s mushroom soup. The delivery person had specifically said it was for Cassia, so it was obviously something she had ordered.
“So what if Bric had some?” Danica stood up and glared at Cassia.
“It’s mine.” Cassia glanced at the mushroom soup and spoke flatly.
“I’m sorry, Cassia. I didn’t mean to eat your mushroom soup.” Bric hung her head, her eyes reddening. The pitiful look on her face was enough to make anyone’s heart ache.
Danica stepped forward, positioning herself between Cassia and Brie like a mother hen protecting her chick.
“Bric has a competition to get to. Breakfast wasn’t ready in the kitchen yet, and your delivery just happened to arrive, so I told her to go ahead and eat.”
Danica’s voice grew louder and her tone more shrill, her attitude utterly arrogant, as if what they had done was perfectly justified and they hadn’t done a single thing wrong.
“It’s just mushroom soup. Do you have to be so petty about it? Is that any way for an older sister to act? No, I take that back. You don’t even deserve to be called our sister!”
Crash!
The moment Danica finished speaking, Cassia lifted her foot and kicked the dining table over. The mushroom soup and side dishes spilled all over the floor.
The family dog caught the scent and came running over, wagging its tail as it lapped up the mess on the ground.
Danica and Brie were terrified, frozen in place like statues.
Cassia, who had never once lost her temper—the Cassia they had always thought was a pushover they could walk over–had actually snapped.
“Cassia, you! You…”
Cassia looked at the dumbstruck Brie and Danica with dangerously cold eyes, her icy words ringing loud and clear.
“You’re absolutely right. I don’t deserve to be your sister. And since that’s the case, I’m done acting like one!”
