Vance followed right behind her.
Honestly, his mind was a mess. He didn’t even know what to think anymore.

When Brie and Danica saw Cassia walk out of the police station, their eyes went wide, especially when they noticed the officer escorting her. He looked serious and important, like someone high up in the department.
Danica nudged Brie. “What’s going on? I thought we were coming to watch her get scolded or something. The show’s over already?”
Cassia walking out so soon didn’t make any sense.
It was really confusing.
Brie looked disappointed too. How is this possible?
Then she spotted her dad coming out too. “Dad’s here,” Brie said quickly and tugged Danica toward him.
Bruno had already said goodbye and was walking away.
Vance watched him leave, then turned to Cassia with a deep frown. “Do you know Chief Dittman?”
Cassia’s eyes were chilly. She shook her head. “No.”
Her answer was short and firm.
“Then why was he so friendly with you?” Vance pressed. “And who’s this Paul you mentioned?”
His sharp tone made Cassia uncomfortable.
“He’s just a friend. Nothing special. I’m going home.” She didn’t plan to explain anything further, and she definitely didn’t want to ride back with him.
“You–do you even see me as your father?” Vance shouted behind her, his voice rising in frustration.
This brat is so rude! No manners at all!
Cassia didn’t answer. She just kept walking, her figure growing smaller under the streetlight until she disappeared around the corner.
Brie and Danica walked over together.
“Dad, is Cassia okay?” Brie asked softly, her voice full of concern, sweet and proper, the way a good daughter should sound.
“Hmph, don’t even mention her,” Vance muttered, his face dark. “She’s always causing trouble. If she were half as obedient as you two, I wouldn’t have to worry so much.”

“Exactly!” Danica chimed in, eager to add fuel to the fire. “It’s so embarrassing. A girl getting into a fight? Can you believe that? I honestly can’t. She’s so bold it’s scary.”
“Danica, stop it. Dad’s already upset.” Brie nudged her, then turned to her father with a gentle tone. “Dad, don’t be mad. It’s not worth getting yourself worked up. Let’s go home, okay?”
They had seen Cassia earlier. She had already gotten into a car and left the police station without a care.
Vance sighed, watching his two well–behaved daughters. At least they still made him proud. Otherwise, he really might lose his mind.
When the three of them arrived home, Cassia was already there, sitting with Geneva, who was fussing over her.
“Sweetheart, you’re not hurt, are you?” Geneva asked, looking her up and down as if searching for any sign of injury.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry,” Cassia said quietly. Inside, though, she felt strangely moved. It had been a long time since anyone had cared about her like this.
Honestly, the ones who got hurt were those three jerks, not her.
“That’s good. Just promise me, no more fighting, okay? I’ll be worried about you,” Geneva said, her voice filled with relief now that Cassia was safe.
Cassia promised. She didn’t like trouble anyway. As long as no one messed with her, she had no reason to fight.
“Alright, go ahead and get some rest. We’ll eat once everyone’s home,” Geneva said gently.
“Hmph. You can still eat after what happened?” Vance’s voice cut sharply through the air as he walked in. Cassia sitting there so calm and relaxed only made his blood boil.
“Honey, you’re home,” Geneva said quickly, surprised by his tone. “So… everything’s fine now, right?” She thought things had been settled smoothly because of Vance.
“Fine?” Vance snapped. “Who knows what kind of trouble she’ll cause next?” His voice dripped with
sarcasm.
Danica entered right after him, her words laced with venom. “It’s so embarrassing. Our family’s always been proper and well–mannered. I have no idea where this barbarian came from.”
Cassia rolled her eyes. Are they ever going to stop?
Geneva’s heart was aching for her daughter. She immediately stepped in to defend her.
Just then, Victoria came out of her room. Danica wasted no time running up to her grandmother to complain.ass
As expected, Victoria exploded with anger. She’d never liked Cassia to begin with. Now, she saw her as nothing more than a thorn in her side.

Cassia didn’t bother defending herself. People who trusted her didn’t need explanations, and those who didn’t would never believe her anyway.
Besides, she was just a guest in this house. She wouldn’t be here forever. Getting upset over something like this wasn’t worth it.
Victoria, however, grew even angrier at Cassia’s calm face. To her, that indifferent attitude screamed disrespect.
Useless rascal! No matter how much you lecture her, she’ll never change.
Due to Victoria’s outburst, nobody dared say a word. The living room fell into an awkward silence that lasted all the way through dinner.
After the meal, everyone moved to the couch to eat fruit. Danica nestled up beside Geneva, her voice soft and sugary. “Mom, tomorrow’s the weekend! Dad promised we’d go shopping. I heard Seer just released their new collection!”
Cassia happened to be walking upstairs when she heard that name. Her steps stopped. Seer? Isn’t that her brand? The one she designed herself.
