She headed straight for the secret underground garage. A blood–red sports car sat there quietly, like a sleeping beast.

It had been a long time since she’d taken it out.

By the time Danica, Geneva, and Brie came back from the amusement park and reached the courtyard gate, they saw the sports car roaring down the driveway. Dust clouds swirled around it, and their eyes went wide.

“When did we get such a fancy car?”

“I don’t know. Maybe it belongs to a guest?” Geneva guessed, though she didn’t remember Vance mentioning anyone visiting today.

“That car looks so familiar. I swear I’ve seen it somewhere,” Danica said, pressing a finger to her chin.

Brie nodded, feeling the same way.

“Oh! I remember now! It was at last March’s World Youth Racing Championship!” Danica shouted excitedly.

“You mean that red car from the championship?” Brie’s eyes widened.

“Yeah! The champion’s car!” Danica nearly bounced with excitement.

Geneva didn’t follow racing closely, but as a society lady, she knew a little about the championship and had even watched a replay with her daughters.

Honestly, she had secretly become a fan of the champion herself. She had always dreamed of seeing that driver in person and even touching the winning car.

But she also knew that someone like that was completely out of reach.
