Chapter 244 The Millers
The room erupted into gasps of disbelief, and everyone looked up at the wall clock.
When Brie played her first move, they’d all subconsciously noted the time.
The minute hand had only advanced by a single tick.
They didn’t believe it, so they pulled out their phones to check.
It was true–one minute.
Danica, a National master level, had played Cassia and lost after five minutes.

Brie, at International Master strength–higher than Danica’s rank–had still lost in just one minute.
This…
Could Brie–the one who’d just lost in a minute really be the one who revived that hopeless White position with a single move?
At this point, they’d rather believe Cassia was the one who touched the board.
Brie felt her face burn under the stares of everyone around her.
Thank God she’d claimed earlier that she “just casually dropped one move“-otherwise, she’d look even worse now.
Amid the shock, Aspen’s interest sparked.
He’d never seen this oldest sister play before, but these two games tonight had genuinely surprised him.
“I’ll play you.”
Aspen waved Brie aside and sat down across from Cassia, eyes bright with excitement.
Cassia glanced at him and stood up.
“Not interested.”
She’d only wanted to teach Brie and Danica a small lesson. Playing a Solid Grandmaster?
No real thrill, so she didn’t care.

Cassia returned to the couch and picked up her phone again.
She didn’t give him even a shred of face.
Aspen and the others assumed Cassia didn’t dare accept the challenge.
Still, they felt it was normal.

Aspen was a Solid Grandmaster. Even if Cassia had beaten Danica and Brie, that only proved she had amateur–level talent. Facing a pro would just be asking to get crushed.
Even so, Aspen really wanted to go a round with Cassia.
Even if she lost, it wouldn’t matter–he’d gladly be her coach and teach her.
From those two quick games, Aspen realized Cassia had more talent than Brie or Danica.
Vance noticed it too.
He’d never seen Cassia play, never seen her attend any lessons–so where did this level of ability come from?
Was she self–taught?
What a terrifying talent. If they nurtured Cassia properly, their chances of getting into Henry’s circle would rise again!
Thinking that, Vance grabbed Aspen’s wrist excitedly. “When you have time, teach your oldest sister.”
“Yeah. When I have time, I’ll coach her a bit,” Aspen said, nodding at Cassia as she played on her phone.
Even if his father hadn’t asked, he’d been thinking the same thing.
With that in mind, Aspen walked over to Cassia,
“Cassia, want me to teach you?”
“You can’t teach me.” Her voice was icy–keeping him a thousand miles away.
Aspen had no rebuttal.
This oldest sister was just as impossible as ever.
Aspen tried again, patiently offering to be her coach for free, teaching her professional principles and techniques. If she learned well, they could even enter Henry’s circle together…

But Cassia stayed indifferent.

Aspen got so annoyed that he nearly decided to ignore her entirely.
Without Aspen chirping in her ear, Cassia finally had some peace.
Eyes on her screen, she replied to Jake’s message
Jake had just reported that lately, the eldest son of the Millers, Colt Miller, had shown up with huge sums of cash to harass The Lennox more than ten times–each time, Jake and Nicole had sent him packing.
Jake also said Colt had people pulling little tricks behind the scenes, trying to take The Lennox down–but it was all childish play. Jake and Nicole didn’t even need to ask Cassia; they handled it easily and fired back cleanly.
Cassia hadn’t seen how ridiculous it was–every time Colt thought he was about to ruin The Lennox, he got slapped in the face instead. If Cassia hadn’t banned voice messages, Jake would’ve laughed out loud.
“Boss, you were right. The Millers are all bluff. If they tried anything real, they couldn’t pull it off.”
Cassia already knew.
She knew that veteran actor. He’d wanted to retire but couldn’t find an excuse–so he used the Millers‘ crusade against him as the perfect reason to vanish and live quietly. That was all.
The Millers actually believed their tactics had driven him out, then bragged about it until the business circle idiots bought the story, giving the Millers a reputation boost.
Cassia got more news from Jake: the Miller patriarch, Daren Miller, planned to come personally to discuss buying The Lennox.
In recent years, as the Millers grew, they made more money–and got more arrogant by the day.
“Boss, when Mr. Miller shows up, do you want to handle it yourself?”
Curled on the couch, Cassia chatted with Jake while her fingers kept tapping her phone keyboard, writing her novel.
When Jake’s message popped up, she multitaske and replied, “You think I need to show up for this? It’s just Daren–why make a big deal? Handle him the same way you handled Ryder
and Colt.”
