Just as Cassia was consumed by anger and anguish, her phone buzzed with a message.
It was from Phantom.
“Watch out!”

Seeing this warning, Cassia quickly closed her laptop and shoved it into a large cabinet. Then she jumped down from the third floor.
By the time Axel led his men upstairs, they locked onto the cabinet based on the tracking signal.
The cabinet was large enough to hide a person.
Axel signaled to the others with his eyes, and the bodyguards split into two groups. Some stayed to guard the door while the others followed Axel as they quickly moved toward the cabinet.
Then Draven walked in from outside.
“Boss, the target should be inside.”
Draven approached the cabinet, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught a figure darting downstairs at incredible speed.
“It’s a trap! After them!”
Draven and his men rushed out of the room and sped off in pursuit.
Cassia hadn’t expected them to be tailing her so closely.
Were they from the laboratory?
Had they detected her the moment she hacked into their system?
Victoria and Brie emerged from Skyland Tower after shopping, their hands full of bags of all
sizes.
“Brie, I brought you shopping without telling anyone. Danica went out to dinner with her volleyball teammates, so we didn’t bring her. You absolutely cannot let Danica find out about this. If that little princess finds out, she’ll throw fit.”

Brie answered sweetly, then looked at the outfit Victoria was wearing and said in a honeyed voice, “Grandma, this outfit suits you so perfectly. You look at least ten years younger!”
Victoria looked down at herself and beamed with delight.
“Oh, you’re exaggerating. But I do really like this one. It’s just a bit too expensive.”
It was one dollar short of five figures. Of course it was expensive!
Brie complained internally.
But she had bought equally expensive clothes too.
They had agreed not to tell Vance about their shopping spree.
Just as the two were chatting and laughing, a few drunken men came walking toward them.
As they passed by, Brie waved a hand in front of her face in disgust.
“Grandma, they smell so bad.”
Victoria shot a look of contempt at the drunks.
“Just ignore them. They’re nothing but leeches on society.”
The drunks heard her and stopped, pointing at Victoria and Brie as they cursed. “What the hell did you two say?”
Victoria pulled Brie back a few steps.
“Grandma, I’m scared…” Brie hid behind Victoria
Victoria’s face had gone pale too.
“Let’s go. Quickly.”
“Okay.” Just as Victoria and Brie were about to hurry away, the drunks surrounded them.
“Leaving? Did we say you could go?” One of the runks with a rat–tail haircut kicked a nearby trash can, holding an unfinished beer bottle and pointing it at Victoria and Brie.
Victoria and Brie were terrified, backing up step by step.
As they retreated, they caught a glimpse of a narrow alley nearby.

Brie was young and fast, and she managed to slip away. Victoria knew she couldn’t outrun them at her age and was quickly cornered.
“Damn it! One got away!” The rat–tail drunk spat on the ground.
Victoria looked in the direction Brie had fled, hoping she would call the police and send help.
In reality, Brie was so scared she just kept running, terrified the men would catch up to her.
Shaken to her core, her mind went blank. She didn’t have the capacity to think about saving Victoria.
As she ran, Brie burst out of the alley and nearly collided head–on with Cassia, who was also running.
“Cassia?”
Brie gasped for air as she stared at Cassia.
Cassia glanced back over her shoulder.
A black car was about to catch up. She needed to keep moving.
She swept past Brie and kept running.
