Chapter 306 She Can Fight by Herself
Cassia was speechless.
So this is what they’ve been imagining all on their own?
Since they were all thinking that way, she had to play this match no matter what.

Seeing that Cassia wouldn’t listen and was dead set on playing, Alfen finally snapped and mocked, “You wanna play? Fine–go play alone! No one wants to team up with you anyway. Let’s see how far you get by yourself! If anything happens, that’s your problem. Don’t come blaming us!”
“Heh.”
Cassia stopped holding back and shot back coldly, “Great. I never planned to rely on a team that would just hold me back. Winning without you will be even easier.”
Hold her back? Easier to win?!
Everyone looked at each other in shock.
How did Cassia even have the nerve to spout something that bold?
“Oh wow, so cocky!” Danica sneered. “Volleyball is a team sport. You’re injured and still talking big, and now you’re saying you don’t even need the team? That’s the funniest joke I’ve heard all year!”
Zrario High’s girls‘ volleyball team might not be the strongest, but they were still ranked pretty high in the city.
With the competition staff still around, even Alfen couldn’t take Cassia’s bragging.
“That’s enough, Cassia. Watch what you say. Don’t push it. If you embarrass yourself, you’ll regret it.”
“The last person who warned me like that ended up totally stunned.”
After saying that, Cassia turned around. Her hair swept through the air as she walked off without looking back.
Everyone was frozen in place.
“You… You damn-”
Alfen was so choked with anger that he almost cursed out loud.
No, I can’t lose my composure in front of students! Breathe… calm down….
After a few deep breaths, the tight feeling in his chest eased a bit, but he still snapped, “What a freak. What did I do to deserve dealing with a weirdo like her? Ugh–she’s going to drive me crazy!”
Danica stepped forward to calm him. “Mr. Hoge, don’t get angry. Let her act tough. People like that only learn after they crash.”
Alfen thought about it.
Cassia had really gotten under his skin. Watching her fail badly wouldn’t just teach her a lesson. It would feel pretty satisfying, too.

Chapter 306 She Can Fight by Herself
“You’re right. Without a team, let’s see how she plans to compete. How does she think she can win?”
Thinking that way, his mood lifted.
“Does she think she has superpowers? Like she can summon a whole team out of nowhere?”
That line made everyone burst out laughing.
The staff member, who was only there to handle procedures, asked routinely, “So, are you forfeiting?”

“No forfeit.” Alfen laughed until he bent over. “Didn’t you see that girl who just returned to the court? She’s injured, but she says she can fight alone and even promised to win us a trophy!”
The students behind him laughed even harder–except for one girl.
The staff member frowned.
How can a teacher say something like that?
But it wasn’t his business. He was just there to relay information.
After the staff member left, Alfen led Danica and the others to the stands, ready to watch Cassia completely embarrass herself.
When Brie and Victoria saw the rest of the girls‘ volleyball team heading toward the seats, they were confused.
It made sense for Danica to come back since she wasn’t playing. But why were the players who were supposed to compete also sitting down?
Brie grabbed Danica as she sat next to her. “Danica, why are they all coming to the stands?”
Danica laughed. “They’re not playing. They’re here to watch the show!”
“Huh? Not playing? Did they forfeit?”
Brie thought that without a spiker, forfeiting sounded reasonable.
“Nope.” Danica shook her head.
Brie was confused. “No forfeit? Then why-”
“I just went backstage. Cassia showed up.”
“What?”
Both Victoria and Brie widened their eyes.
The next moment, Victoria blurted out, “Isn’t she injured? Can she even play?”
