Chapter 312 Their Scheme
Victoria was curled up on the couch watching TV, completely zoned out.
In Brie’s room, the two sisters just stared at each other, frozen.
Neither of them seemed able to process the news that Cassia had made it to the finals.

Danica and Brie truly hadn’t expected that Cassia had actually reached the championship match, and she’d done it while injured.
Back in Cubresh, Cassia had warned them, “Don’t regret it!”
Now, Danica and Brie really were starting to regret things.
“Tsk, isn’t it all thanks to the national team?” Danica sneered, sulky and sarcastic.
Brie chimed in, “No wonder Cassia is so good at volleyball. She must’ve had some special training from them.”
“Hmph! If I knew someone from the national team, I’d play way better than her!” Danica waved her fists, speaking loudly.
“Of course. Your talent is one of a kind,” Brie said in her usual flattering tone.
“Cassia only won because she got lucky. Without the national team, there’s no way she’d make it to the finals. You could tell just from her serves–totally amateur! She basically coasted the whole match. How could she compare to someone experienced like you?”
That made Danica feel much better.
Only Brie understood her!
“Honestly, the heavens must be blind. How does that country bumpkin accomplish nothing yet have such insane luck?”
Brie comforted her, “She got lucky this time, but that doesn’t mean she’ll win next time. The finals are tomorrow. I heard her opposing team is extremely strong. She might not win.”
“But she’s with the national team. They’ve won Olympic titles! How could she possibly lose?” Danica’s face fell at the thought of Cassia slapping her in the face again with another victory.
“If you want Cassia to lose, that’s actually pretty easy.”
Danica’s eyes lit up. “Do you have a plan?”
Brie showed a sly smile.
“No one can resist money. Not even the national team’s star players.”
Danica understood and covered her mouth.
“Brie, you mean we bribe someone on their team? Make them throw the match?”
…
Brie narrowed her eyes with a smile. “You’re getting smarter.”
Danica thought it wasn’t a bad idea.

“We should investigate who on their team is short on money. That’ll make things easier,” Brie added.
“Alright, let’s start right away.”
After the national team’s gathering ended, everyone went their separate ways.
Draven drove Cassia back to Dunstino Bay.
She went to check on Sterling first. Pushing open his bedroom door, she found him already asleep.
Sleeping this early, huh?
Cassia quietly backed out and returned to her room.
She planned to play a few rounds of chess with “The World” tonight.
She glanced at the clock on the wall.
Still early. Might as well play a few rounds.
She opened her phone’s chess app and saw “The World” was online.
Invite. Match. Start.
The game unfolded quickly and quietly.

By 9:00 p.m., at Wood Manor.
Aspen and Vance sat in front of a computer, watching “Creatia” and “The World” play.
“This is the fifth game, right?” Vance asked.
“Yeah.” Aspen nodded.
“Unbelievable stamina,” Vance remarked.
Both players moved incredibly fast, barely pausing to think. Their concentration was razor–sharp. It was already nighttime. After a full day of work, anyone should’ve been exhausted, but those two looked like they were on stimulants.
“Still no word from Mr. Sawyer?” Vance asked again.
“No…”
“Things are really shaky with Mr. Sawyer because of Cassia.”
