Chapter 32 The Collision

The girl looked about eighteen. She wore a white hoodie and cutoff denim shorts. She was slim and long- legged, with a small, striking face. Her skin was pale as snow, her collarbones faintly showing; one could almost see the tiny veins under her skin.

Her expression stayed calm. There was no panic, no fear after a car crash. Her eyes were sharp and bold.

The girl’s presence was impossible to ignore.

The driver froze for a second before snapping back to reality.

Miss, are you okay? The driver lowered his voice when he realized she was just a teenager.

I’m fine,Cassia said. So? Are we calling the police, or are we settling this here? She pressed her lips together and looked straight at him, her blue eyes steady.

The driver was startled. He never expects someone so young to stay this calm after something so serious.

She was probably just old enough to drive, and she had gone that fast?

He’d never met anyone like her.

But he couldn’t decide anything on his own. He had to ask his boss.

In the back seat, Draven was getting impatient. He would travel with his private jet, so he wasn’t actually in a rush, but sitting in the car still made him restless.

Eric took one look at him and knew he was close to losing his temper. He hurried to calm him. Give me a second. I’ll check what’s going on.”

Truthfully, Eric had already been curious to see who was driving that fast.

Someone who could drive an offroad SUV like it was a jet? Impossible. Yet it just happened.

He reached for the door, but before he could open it, a pale hand tapped lightly on the window beside him.

Cassia had noticed the driver looked troubled, so she didn’t push him. She was in a hurry, so she went straight to the real decisionmaker.

She knew the owner would be the one who mattered.

Eric lowered the window.

One glance and he lit up

inside.

No way. What are the odds?

Outside stood the same coldfaced girl he had seen earlier at the auction house.

She was the one who had gone headtohead with Draven. Up close, she looked even fairer, almost glowing in the sunlight.

Of all places, he never thought they’d run into her here. The world really was tiny.

And from this distance, he could see everything, almost down to the veins under her perfect skin.

Cassia was in a rush, and her patience was running out. She leaned down and looked into the car. Sorry, I crashed into your car. Just tell me how much it costs. I can transfer it to you right now.

Eric froze and was not sure what to say.

Before he could even react, she spoke again.

Sir, can you hurry?she urged.

From where she stood, Cassia couldn’t see the people inside the car. She only guessed the owner was someone older.

The back seat was pitch black, so she couldn’t make out anything there.

But that one wordSirnearly made Eric choke.

Sir?

She actually called him that? Was he really that old?

Eric refused to accept that.

He was only in his twenties.

He quickly lowered the car window completely and leaned out. Hey, kid, just call me Eric.

Cassia frowned. He looked familiar somehow, but she couldn’t remember where she’d seen him.

She never bothered remembering people anyway.

But that wasn’t the point. She just wanted this problem solved fast.

Sir-She stopped when she saw his face. He wasn’t that old. So she changed her words. EricEric was firm about it. A lovely girl like her? Of course he wanted her to remember his name.

But the girl’s expression stayed cold and unreadable.

Cassia’s brows tightened even more. What is wrong with this guy? Is he okay?

Fine. I’ll just call the police, she said, lowering her eyes. At this point she was already late; a little extra delay didn’t matter.
