Earlier that day, Seven had taken Sterling to an amusement park. There was a scary adventure ride called Lion’s Den, and he brought Sterling inside.
The entrance and exit were on the same path. The layout was simple. Still, Sterling got lost inside. Seven had to search everywhere before he found him.
Sterling turned to look at Cassia.
“Cassia will take me,” he said.
“Ms. Wood is busy,” Seven said, spreading his hands. “She can’t take you out all day. She’s still in school. You don’t want to keep bothering her, right?”
Sterling grew anxious when he heard that.
He knew Cassia never thought he was a burden, but he didn’t want to trouble her.
“So,” Seven went on with a grin, “if you call me brother, I’ll take you for crawfish tomorrow. Spicy ones, garlic ones, every kind! With ice–cold drinks. Yum yum! It’s delicious!”
He smacked his lips on purpose, trying to tempt Sterling.
Sterling watched him and swallowed hard.
He really wanted some.
At that moment, Cassia put down her fork and looked at Sterling.
After a short pause, she asked, “I want you to go to school. Are you willing?”
“Yes,” Sterling said at once and nodded.
Anything Cassia arranged was for his own good. He would listen.
“That might be too fast,” Seven said.
Steven actually wanted Sterling to go to school, but he felt a little sad too.
He wanted to spend a few more days with him.
He was also worried Sterling might not adjust well.
“He just started doing better,” Seven said carefully. “Maybe let him ease into it? School isn’t the only way. I can take him out and let him learn about the world.”
“I don’t want you to,” Sterling said flatly.
“Kid, that really hurts,” Seven said, clutching his chest in an exaggerated way. His face twisted like he was on stage.
“You hurt me and walked away…”

So dramatic!
Sterling complained silently, then couldn’t help laughing at Seven’s silly act.
“Where are you planning to place him?” Draven asked Cassia. “The Zrario Elementary School?”
“Yes,” Cassia said and nodded.
“I’ll visit the orphanage in a few days,” Draven added. “I’ll discuss this with Mr. Zimmer.”

After dinner, Draven drove Cassia and Sterling back to Dunstino Bay.
When they got home, Sterling sat at his desk and opened his trading app on the computer.
Cassia turned on the TV and started watching.
At 10.30 p.m., her phone rang.
“Cassia, something’s wrong,” Jake said urgently on the other end. “The shipment is gone.”
“The shipment?”
Cassia’s expression turned serious at once.
That shipment was not ordinary cargo. It was a batch of illegal poppy plants they had seized a few days earlier, working together
with Phantom.
That was the real reason she had bought shares in Zrario High not long ago and why she had taken several days off.
First, she was waiting for the boss to contact her to talk about the plantation deal. Second, it was for this operation.
Seizing that batch of poppies had cost both her and Phantom several exhausting days.
The original plan was to hide the poppies in a secure location within the organization and destroy them all at once at a later time. But now Jake was telling her the poppies had been stolen.
The organization was tightly guarded. Jake himself was in charge. It would be nearly impossible for outsiders to sneak in.
Which meant it was probably an insider job.
It looked like she would have to go back personally and clean house.
Cassia pulled open the door and stepped outside.
It was late at night. To save time, Cassia took a shortcut through a narrow, pitch–black alley.
The alley was empty. It was part of an old neighborhood, and the streetlights on both sides were broken. Inside, she could barely
see her hand.
Then suddenly, Cassia saw Tyne.
“Cassia, long time no see.”

Tyne was dressed even more scantly than before. Her left arm hugged her right elbow as she leaned lazily against the wall. Between the index and middle fingers of her right hand was a cigarette.
She took drag after drag, blowing out slow rings of white smoke.
This wasn’t a friendly visit.
Cassia had things to do and no time to waste.
But the alley was narrow, and Tyne was blocking her path.
“What do you want?” Cassia said coldly. “I don’t have time to catch up.”
“Don’t be so cold, Cassia. I’ve missed you so much,” Tyne said with a grin.
She lifted one finger and casually hooked it backward near the back of her head.
In an instant, the empty space behind her filled up. From different corners of the alley, a group of men in sharp black suits and dark sunglasses stepped out one after another.
They moved like a black tide, closing in. It was like a dark cloud rolling through the alley, making the already black night feel even
heavier.
Seeing the aggressive formation, Cassia narrowed her sharp eyes. Her hand at her side clenched into a fist.
The last group of street thugs hadn’t succeeded. She had expected Tyne to come after her again. But she hadn’t expected this.
This time, Tyne had brought more than ten men, and every single one of them looked dangerous. These were nothing like the small–time punks from before.
