At Dunstino Bay.
Cassia lay lazily on the soft bed in her bedroom, phone in both hands, ten fingers flying swiftly and skillfully across the keyboard.
Forty thousand had arrived in her account. Cassia transferred it into her bank savings, then tossed the phone aside.
Weekend.
Cassia went to the movies with Draven and the others.
The seats Seven bought were far in the back. From there, the view was perfect.
“Kid, I bought a few flavors of cashews. Which one do you want? Original, caramel, or salted?” Seven asked Sterling beside him.
“Caramel.”
Sterling took a bag of caramel–flavored cashews from Seven, opened it, and handed it to Cassia.
Caramel was Cassia’s favorite.
“Thanks.”
Cassia accepted it, grabbed a handful of cashews from the bag, then turned to Draven. “Want some?”
The movie hadn’t started yet. Draven was watching her.
He wasn’t particularly interested in cashews. But he was very interested in her pretty hands.
He extended his hand and moved it beside hers.
The meaning was obvious–he wanted the ones in her hand.
Cassia didn’t think much of it. She simply poured the cashews from her palm into his.
His hand was large, much bigger than hers.
She had grabbed a full handful, but resting in his palm, it looked small.
Draven closed his fingers easily around the cashews.
He lifted them to his nose and inhaled softly.
Cassia watched him.
At first, she didn’t understand what he was doing. Then, she realized.
“You don’t have to smell them. They’re caramel–flavored. It’s my favorite. If you don’t like it, I can get you another flavor.”
She assumed he was checking the scent.

The theater lights were dim, and the movie was about to start.
Draven tilted his head, his deep eyes reflecting her figure.
His gaze was slow. Intense. Almost consuming.
“No need. It smells great. It’s a scent I like.”
The cashews carried a faint trace of her fragrance.
He picked one up and placed it into his mouth.
It tasted excellent.
Cassia glanced at the cashews in his hand, then at his moving lips.
Something felt strange.
A feeling she couldn’t quite name.
“I’m going to the restroom,” Draven said, standing up. “Hold these for me.”
“Okay.” Cassia reached out and took the cashews from his large palm.
It was still a full handful.

After Draven walked away, Cassia didn’t bother grabbing more from the bag. She simply started eating the ones already in her hand.
After a few steps, Draven turned back to look at her.
He saw her eating the cashews he had just held.
The corner of his lips curved upward, a trace of pleasure coloring his smile.
The movie was about to begin in about a minute. Just as Cassia was comfortably snacking, a familiar voice sounded behind her.
“Cassia? You really came!”
At the sound of Byron’s voice, irritation flickered across her brows.
Byron walked around from behind and sat directly in the seat beside her.
“Hey, hey! That seat’s taken!” Seven called out.
Byron looked at Seven.
He didn’t recognize the man, but he recognized Sterling.
ork on
He had done his homework on Cassia. He knew Sterling was her adopted younger brother.
Why is Sterling sitting with a strange man? Does that mean this man came to the movie with Cassia?
He said the seat was taken.

Byron hadn’t noticed earlier. He’d seen the empty seat next to Cassia and sat down without thinking.
