With Draven gone and Cassia stuck being hit on, if Seven didn’t step in and chase the guy off, Draven would definitely call him useless when he got back.
“You should leave. My friend will be back any second.”
Speak of the devil–Seven had barely finished when a low, deep voice sounded above Cassia and Byron’s heads.
“Excuse me.”
Just those two words–cold as ice–made Byron shiver on instinct.
He slowly looked up at the man in front of him.
It was an undeniably handsome face, sharp and striking, but so expressionless that it almost looked carved from stone.
And yet that very lack of expression carried a terrifying chill, like being dragged down into a bottomless frozen abyss.
He immediately chickened out and stood up.
Only after getting to his feet did Byron realize his calves were actually trembling.
What am I even scared of?!
Byron forced himself to calm down.
He kept reminding himself that his family is a major household in Zrario. He’d seen plenty of the world. Sure, this man had an imposing presence, but Byron didn’t recognize him. He’d never seen him before.
If even he didn’t know the guy, Byron figured he was probably just some ordinary rich kid at best.
That was nothing compared to him. He came from a scholarly, prestigious lineage!
With that thought, Byron fully recovered from the shock and met Draven’s gaze without backing down.
“Hello. I’m Byron, the young heir of the Webbs in Zrario.”
Without waiting for Draven to respond, Byron continued, “My seat’s right behind this one. Would you mind switching with me?”
“No.” Draven’s expression didn’t budge as he dropped the single word.
The air seemed to freeze. Byron felt like his face had been slapped hard.
He wasn’t bad–looking himself, and Draven’s almost wickedly handsome face had already drawn plenty of attention, so quite a few people had been watching their side of the theater.
Being rejected so bluntly in front of everyone made Byron feel like his dignity had been crushed.
Cassia narrowed her eyes slightly, studying Draven with open curiosity.
In her mind, Draven had always been the composed, gentlemanly type of nobleman.

Hearing something so sharp and cutting come out of his mouth genuinely surprised her.
Seven tugged lightly on Sterling’s sleeve, shooting him a barely restrained grin.
Sterling glanced back at Seven, then turned to keep watching the trio in front of them.
“Ahem…” Byron cleared his throat awkwardly and looked at Draven. “Why not?”
Without giving him a chance to answer, Byron added, “Come on, man, do me a favor. I’m pursuing her.”
He figured that once he said that, Draven would have no reason to refuse.

But Draven’s deep gaze brushed lightly over Cassia before his narrow eyes lifted toward Byron, cool and indifferent. “You’re trying to pursue my girlfriend, and you want me to give up my seat to help you do it. That’s quite the logic you’ve got.”
What?
Byron’s eyes widened like saucers.
Seven sucked in a breath, grateful the kid next to him could share the sweetness. Otherwise, he’d have died from the sugar overload.
Cassia looked at Draven calmly, one delicate brow arching slightly, saying nothing.
“W–What?” Byron finally snapped out of it, glancing from Draven to Cassia.
He still refused to believe it.
“H–How is that possible? You two-”
Based on what he knew about Cassia, she never got close to men. If anything, she seemed to look down on them.
And besides, he’d been observing her for quite a while now. He had never once seen this man by her side.
“Move. The movie’s about to start,” Draven looked refined and dignified on the surface, but his tone left no room for argument. Byron’s face shifted between green and white. He wanted nothing more than to crawl into a crack in the ground.
Under the crushing pressure radiating off Draven, Byron could only stand up and move aside.
At first, Byron felt utterly humiliated and planned to leave immediately. But then another thought occurred to him. What if this man is only helping Cassia out and deliberately claiming to be her boyfriend?
The more Byron thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
Thinking back, when the man said he was Cassia’s boyfriend, she hadn’t shown much on her face, but she had kept staring at him.
That felt like a crack in the story.
After sorting through everything in his head, Byron decided not to leave after all and stayed to observe.
