As for Cassia, Vance figured she was probably at the bottom of the rankings. He’d better not bring her up and make himself a laughingstock.
“Really, Mr. Wood? But I heard from my child that your younger daughter didn’t do so well on this mock exam.”
A few parents who loved stirring the pot chimed in.
“I heard she ranked near the bottom.”
“No way? I remember Danica’s grades being pretty decent.”
“She was on leave for two months. Missing that much class–of course, she couldn’t catch up.”
Vance froze.
The middle–aged man’s face darkened instantly.
“Brie, did Danica really rank near the bottom this time?”
“Yeah.” Brie bit her lower lip. “I’m sorry, Dad. It’s my fault for not keeping a closer eye on Danica lately. If she had stayed home to recover after she got sick, I would’ve supervised her studies properly. If I had pushed her more, she wouldn’t have done so terribly on this mock exam.”
Vance let out a sigh and patted Brie on the shoulder. “Sigh, it’s not your fault. If anyone’s to blame, it’s Cassia!”
They say you become like the friends you keep. Danica had lived with Cassia for a month. She must’ve picked up bad habits from her, and that’s why her grades dropped so badly!
Danica probably realized that herself, which is why she hurried back home–to stay away from Cassia.
As Vance was thinking that, another parent nearby, holding a printed copy of the schoolwide ranking list, spoke up. “Hey, Mr. Wood, don’t blame your eldest daughter. She’s way more impressive than your second daughter. If I hadn’t seen this ranking sheet myself, I wouldn’t have believed it!”
“What do you mean?” Vance blinked, confused.
The parent spread the ranking sheet out on the desk in front of Vance and pointed to the very first name. “Your eldest daughter, Cassia, took first place again on this mock exam! First in the entire grade!”
Vance frowned and leaned closer to look at the list.
“What?” When he saw Cassia’s name sitting in the number one spot, he physically leaned back in shock.
Cassia got first in the grade? And did she say “again“?
That meant it wasn’t just once?
Is that even real?

Chapter 432 First Place
That rebellious girl who never took anything seriously?
Seeing Vance’s reaction, the other parents looked puzzled. “What? You’re her father. You didn’t know?”
“I…” Vance was suddenly at a loss for words.
Cassia’s grades are this good?
I never knew…

“Cassia ranks first on every single exam. She’s absolutely the top student!” one of the students said, her voice full of admiration.
“Every single time? Are you sure she’s not cheating?” Vance felt lightheaded.
“She’s not cheating.” Another student from the honors class added, “At the first City Finals, she scored nearly a perfect score. At first, the teachers didn’t believe it either, so they personally verified everything. The results proved that Cassia didn’t cheat–not even once!”
“If she’s that outstanding, why didn’t she tell me?” Vance frowned, staring blankly at Cassia’s name and scores on the sheet, a hint of blame creeping into his tone.
The students all looked at Vance. “Even if Cassia didn’t say anything, Brie should’ve known, right? Brie hever told you?”
“You…” Vance turned to look at Brie, his expression stiff and strained.
The honors class students could tell from Vance’s reaction that Brie must have deliberately kept Cassia’s repeated first–place rankings from the family.
Parents usually favor the child with better grades. Brie had clearly hidden Cassia’s achievements because she was afraid Cassia would steal the spotlight and win their parents‘ affection!
They had always wondered why someone as outstanding as Cassia was still treated so coldly by the Woods.
Now they understood.
Wow. Brie is seriously scheming.
Feeling wave after wave of hostile stares in the classroom, Brie’s scalp prickled.
