Chapter 435 Favoritism
Chapter 435 Favoritism
Now Lilian finally understood why Cassia had such a terrible temper.
It was because of the Woods‘ blatant favoritism.

Even though she mentally roasted Vance from head to toe, Lilian kept a polite smile on her face and said, “I’m Cassia and Danica’s homeroom teacher. You can just call me Ms. Reed.”
“Oh, so you’re Ms. Reed! I’m so sorry, so sorry. The hallway lighting is a bit dim. I didn’t see clearly at first…” Vance’s face and neck flushed red with embarrassment.
“Haha… it’s fine.” Lilian’s gaze lifted slightly as she glanced at the newly replaced bright white overhead light.
Dim lighting? At his age, he’s still lying with a straight face.
Right now, Lilian really wanted to roll her eyes at him.
“Mr. Wood, you probably don’t know the other piece of good news yet, do you?”
“What good news? I already know Cassia ranked first in the entire grade.” Vance thought to himself, What other good news could those two girls in the advanced class possibly have besides grades?
Lilian said, “Not just that. Vrastin’s Vego University has already notified our principal. Cassia has received one of the only two guaranteed admission spots in all of Zrario.”
“What?”
Vance felt like tonight wasn’t a parent–teacher conference at all–it was a full–blown slap–in–the–face convention.
From this moment on, the way Vance looked at Cassia completely changed.
“Cassia, I think you were right not to go back to Wood Manor. Your grandma and your father are completely blinded by that adopted daughter. They can’t see your goodness and talent at all.”
After the advanced class conference ended, Geneva looked at Cassia and said that softly.
To be honest, when Lilian had publicly praised her during the meeting, Geneva’s heart had been surging with emotion.
But at the same time, a question had taken root in her mind.
If Cassia’s grades are this outstanding, why have we never known?
Geneva thought of Brie. She remembered how every time they asked about the three sisters‘ performance at school, Brie would talk about Cassia slacking off, being unserious, and not studying hard, painting a picture of failure. They had believed Cassia’s grades were terrible, that she was hopeless beyond saving.
Yet tonight, Lilian had said Cassia not only ranked first in every exam, but had also helped the class win “Outstanding Class” honors at two different arts festivals.
And yet all that brilliance had been completely overshadowed by Brie.

If she hadn’t come to this conference tonight, she might never have known just how extraordinary her daughter was.
Geneva could guess why Brie had chosen to hide and lie about it.
Jealousy was probably part of it.

As an adopted daughter living under someone else’s roof, enjoying wealth and privilege that weren’t originally hers, she must have felt afraid–afraid that one day, Cassia would reclaim everything, including her place in the Woods, the affection, and the status.
So she hid Cassia’s true abilities and even smeared her reputation, all to make them believe Cassia was worthless. That way, their attention would never shift to Cassia.
The more Geneva thought about it, the more logical it seemed.
What frightened her most was that Brie had managed to conceal all of this for so long.
That kind of calculation ran deep.
“Just wait. One day, they’ll regret it.” Cassia shrugged, her tone calm and indifferent.
“And the matter with Danica being pushed–how are you going to resolve it?” Geneva asked anxiously.
She believed Brie had pushed Danica. But Vance and Victoria didn’t. They couldn’t let them continue misunderstanding Cassia like this forever.
“You just go back to Wood Manor for now. Everything will be brought to light very soon,” Cassia said.
Very soon? So Cassia already has a plan?
Hearing her daughter speak so confidently, Geneva felt some of her worry ease.
“Your dad drove here. Should I have him drop you back at Dunstino Bay?”
“No need. Someone’s coming to pick me up.” Cassia stood and walked out of the classroom.
“Who’s picking you up? That handsome young man from last time?” Geneva followed beside her, remembering the striking man she’d seen standing next to Cassia at Zrario High’s Spring Gala.
