Chapter 439 He Found Her
Cassia carried a plastic bag in one hand as she walked toward the gates of Dunstino Bay.
She had just reached the entrance when she ran into Aspen.

He was standing there deliberately, clearly waiting. The way he walked straight toward her made it obvious he was here for her.
“Cassia, there’s something I need to confirm with you,” Aspen said, blocking her path.
“We have nothing to talk about.”
Cassia didn’t even look at him and moved to walk around him.
Suddenly, Aspen reached out and grabbed her wrist.
When Cassia paid for groceries, she sent a WhatsApp message inviting Draven to her place for dinner.
At that very moment, Draven’s car pulled up to the gates of Dunstino Bay. He was about to swipe his card to enter when he happened to see the scene unfold.
His expression immediately hardened, a shadowed chill settling between his brows.
Cassia glanced down at the hand gripping her wrist and tugged sharply.
“Six years ago… Were you the one who saved me?” Aspen’s words made her pause.
He let go of her wrist and continued, “Six years ago, at the alley by the old pedestrian street. If it hadn’t been for you, there probably wouldn’t have been an Aspen after that.”
He stared at her, his expression complicated, waiting for her answer.
Cassia’s indifferent gaze swept across his face.
Six years ago, she had just joined The Crows. One night, a small gang that often clashed with them had come looking for trouble. Just as she was about to step in, a boy suddenly stood in front of her.
It hadn’t helped much in the end. She’d still taken care of the thugs herself and ended up saving that boy.
Later, when she returned to Wood Manor and saw Aspen, he seemed familiar. So she’d looked into it.
It was him.
But the person involved clearly hadn’t recognized her. Or maybe he’d forgotten her completely.
“It was me.”
Aspen’s pupils trembled.
It really was her.
He had already watched the surveillance footage the night before and had nearly confirmed it.

The video was black and white, and there was no audio, but the girl’s features were clear.
Even though she had looked younger then, he’d recognized her instantly.
It was Cassia.
But he still needed to hear her say it herself.
Maybe he had clung to that confirmation because deep down, he’d held onto a tiny sliver of hope.
A hope that she would say “No.” That the girl from six years ago wasn’t her,
But her quiet “It was me” shattered the last of that hope.
“Why? Why didn’t you ever tell me? Why…”
He had searched for her for so long. That night six years ago, he’d been too drunk to see her clearly. If he hadn’t wandered into that convenience store yesterday, he might still be searching blindly.
He had never imagined that the person he had been searching for, the girl he had missed and cherished in his heart, the one he wanted to marry… had been by his side all along. His little sister. His biological sister.
No wonder her silhouette had always felt so familiar to me.
If I had known earlier…
But even if I had known earlier, what could I have done?
She’s my sister.
“Why did it have to turn out like this… God really has a twisted sense of humor…”
Aspen dragged a hand through his hair and pressed his other hand to his chest, shaking his head with a bitter laugh.
It felt like a string deep inside his heart had snapped.
Pain, helplessness, confusion–too ma
ny emotions tangled together inside him. He didn’t even know what expression to wear in front of her anymore.
“Tell you? What would I tell you? We don’t have anything to talk about,” Cassia said, studying the strange look on his face but speaking in a voice as cold as ever.
Her words pricked his heart again.
He had searched for her so desperately, longing for the day he could see that girl again.
