As for that vow, it had slipped out of Brie’s mouth in sheer panic. She’d been so terrified she wasn’t even thinking straight, words spilling out like a gust of wind.

Looking at her swollen, tear–reddened eyes, Vance believed she had learned her lesson this time.

Brie sniffled softly and followed behind him carefully, returning to the manor.

Following Cassia’s instructions, Danica waited until after 10 p.m. and returned to Wood Manor with a male classmate and Fred from the Central City Hospital.

The timing was perfect–Vance and Aspen had just gotten home from work, and Victoria, Geneva, and Brie were all in the house.

They were gathered in the living room.

Vance hesitated but picked up the uniform pants and unfolded them.

Sure enough, on the left pant leg were several dark stains tinged with red.

The maid stood quietly behind Geneva, slightly to her right.

The moment Brie saw her uniform, her heart dropped. Her gaze instinctively flicked toward the maid she had questioned yesterday.

Before Vance could speak, Danica continued, “It’s my blood. I had it tested at Central City Hospital. Dr. Limbaugh can confirm.”

After she spoke, Fred stepped forward and handed the test report to Vance.

“This is the analysis. You can check it.”
