Chapter 441 Punishment
Still, this wasn’t so bad.
When Cassia stitched Draven’s sleeve back together, needle by needle, her fingers brushed his arm from time to time…
After finishing the repair, Cassia sent Danica a few messages.

At Wood Manor.
Ever since returning home Saturday night, Brie had rushed straight to her room and shut the door behind her.
At the parent–teacher conference, the moment Dad heard that that bitch’s grades surpassed mine, his entire expression changed!
I can’t lose to Cassia again. And I can’t afford to delay any longer. The longer I drag things out, the worse it will be for me.
With that thought, Brie hurried to the bed and crouched down.
The space beneath it was empty.
The black plastic bag she had hidden there was gone.
She had been too busy trying to repair her relationship with Danica these past few days and hadn’t gotten around to throwing it
away.
Where did it go?
Did a servant throw it out?
Panic surged through her.
She grabbed one of the maids and demanded, “Where’s the bag under bed?”
my
“Ms. Brie, do you mean the bulging black plastic bag?” the maid asked respectfully.
“Yes. Where did it go?”
“Since it was a black plastic bag left in a hidden corner, I assumed it was something you didn’t need, so I took the liberty of throwing it away,” the maid replied smoothly.
Hearing that, Brie exhaled in relief.
To be safe, she pressed further. “Did you open it? When did you throw it out?”
“I disposed of it this morning. It went straight into the garbage truck.”
This morning…
Brie thought back.
That had been when she was at the park with Danica. The maid must have entered her room then.

But she was certain she had locked the door.
Her gaze toward the maid shifted, growing sharp.
“You’ve got some nerve, sneaking into my locked room.”
The maid’s respectful expression didn’t waver.
“Mrs. Victoria noticed the house was due for cleaning and instructed us to tidy all the rooms.”
So Grandma ordered the cleaning. That meant the key must have come from her.
If that was the case, Brie had nothing more to say.
“Alright. That’s all. You may go.”
“Alright, Ms. Brie.” The maid bowed and withdrew.
Reassured, Brie returned to working on advanced math problems.
Later, when Vance came home from the conference, he stormed into her room and unleashed a furious scolding.
He accused her of being improper, disobedient, of lying, and daring to defy his rule by dating.
Brie endured the tirade silently. She had indeed been wrong, and the sudden onslaught left her stunned. She hadn’t even had time to think of someone else to take the blame.
This was the first time Vance had scolded her alone. In the past, even if she’d been reprimanded, Danica had at least shared the punishment.
Brie glanced at Danica’s tightly shut door and clenched her jaw.
Vance was furious. Though he doted on this adopted daughter, what he could not tolerate was her lies and defiance.
If there was a first time, there could be a second. Brie was the product of over a decade of his careful cultivation. He had always intended for her and Aspen to take over the company after college, to carry the Woods name forward.
He would not allow a single blemish, a single flaw, a single act of disobedience. How could he entrust the company to her
otherwise?
Yet this adopted daughter had lied more than once. His patience had limits.
In a fit of rage, Vance dragged Brie into the yard and shoved her into the doghouse, locking the gate and forcing her to sleep alongside the family dog.
