“Dad, Cassia may have good grades, but her conduct points are low. Mine are high. And I’m about to go to Vrastin for the Olympiad math competition. I have a huge chance at getting a guaranteed admission to Vego University! As long as I’m still your daughter, that’s an honor for the Woods. It’s free publicity for the family, and it can bring in money and prestige for you too!”
Vance looked at Brie kneeling before him, crying as she pleaded her case, and couldn’t deny that what she said made sense.
“So you’re asking for another chance? And if you don’t get into Vego University?”
“If I don’t get into Vego University…” Brie paused, then raised her hand as if swearing an oath. “Dad, if I fail, I’ll accept whatever punishment you decide. I won’t complain. If I do complain even a little, I–I die a horrible death!”
Seeing her dare to swear such a vicious oath, Vance thought maybe she really meant it this time.
Of course, in Brie’s mind, the priority was to appease him first.
Still, she hadn’t said those words without thought.
First, she was confident she could secure the guaranteed spot at Vego University. Second, the future hadn’t arrived yet, and there were always variables. She understood Vance well–if something went wrong, she could always find another way.
In the end, Vance relented and allowed Brie to remain at Wood Manor.
But Victoria didn’t. From that Sunday onward, Victoria’s attitude toward Brie changed completely. The doting affection was gone.
After
everyone left the living room, Vance pulled Danica aside.
“Danica, you’re closest to Cassia now. Say a few good things about me in front of her. Convince her to come home.”
Danica nodded.
On Monday, the three Woods sisters went to school as usual.
During break, Danica walked over to Cassia’s desk.
“Cassia, Dad wants you to come back.”
Cassia responded with a cold, indifferent “Cool.”

“So… will you come back?” Danica tugged at Cassia’s hand and gave it a small shake.
“If you keep talking about this, I won’t help you with tutoring anymore.”
Danica froze.
After a full day of classes, Selena proposed that evening that starting tonight, the honors class and the advanced class should have. joint evening study sessions in the multimedia room.
Harold thought it was a good idea. Combining the two classes meant the honors class could help the advanced class, which would boost the college admission rate, so he agreed.
The honors class naturally paired with the advanced class.

Cassia hadn’t planned on attending evening study, but Rosalie pointed out that her attendance record was weak. It was already May. Even if her grades were good now, no one could guarantee how she’d perform on the final exams. So Rosalle dragged her
along.
Cassia didn’t really care, She could play games or scroll on her phone anywhere.
Just as she was happily playing a match–three puzzle, her phone suddenly rang
She glanced at the screen.
The number made her instantly annoyed.
She declined the call.
It rang again.
She declined again and prepared to block it.
Then a message popped up.
“If you hang up again, I’ll come to your school.”
Seeing that, Cassia shoved her chair back irritably.
The screech of the legs against the floor drew several curious looks.
“Cassia? What’s wrong?” Rosalie asked, confused.
“I’m taking a call.”
Her voice was cool and faintly edged with impatience.
Rosalie stared at the phone in Cassia’s hand.
She was curious who it was.
Cassia had been calmly playing her game when the unfamiliar number appeared, and she had hung up twice in a row.
Rosalie wasn’t trying to pry, but the tension radiating from Cassia was hard to ignore.
