Chapter 491 Her Standards
Before long, their match ended in a tie.
They cleared the board and started a new round.
“Looks like you’ve been putting in extra practice,” Cassia said, lifting her glass of whiskey and taking a slow sip.

Henry chuckled and brushed his beard. “One of my students is about to take on a student himself. If I don’t keep improving, youngsters might start laughing at me.”
“Let me guess which one,” Cassia said, watching him. “Randy?”
She remembered he had messaged her once, saying he had just gotten hired as a coach at a local chess club.
She hadn’t bothered to reply.
“Yep, that kid,” Henry said. “He grew up at Westhill and spent most of his life just studying the game. I told him to go out and s the world. It’s also a good way to help spread our school’s style of chess.”
“Sounds good,” Cassia said with a small nod.
They flipped a coin for the first move, and Cassia once again took black.
She placed her first piece quickly. Henry picked up a white piece and said, “I heard he just started work today and already took student. His name is Ethan Zimmer.”
Click!
The white piece clicked onto the board.
“Ethan Zimmer?” Cassia raised an eyebrow at the familiar name.
So that guy really did go learn chess.
Her hand didn’t slow as she placed her next black piece.
“You know him?” Henry caught the tiny change in her expression and grew curious.
“Just someone my age I barely know,” Cassia said calmly, taking another sip of whiskey.
“Oh.” Henry played another move and looked up at her.
“I’ve heard a little about him. Supposedly, he hates quiet hobbies like board games.”
“Oh?” Cassia dropped a black stone onto the board without hesitation.
“Randy asked him the same thing–if he doesn’t like it, why learn? He said he’s doing it for a girl.”
Henry slowed his hand on purpose as he lowered the next white piece. His relaxed but sharp eyes studied Cassia’s beautiful, unreadable face.
“The girl’s name is Cassia Wood.”

“Oh.”
Her face stayed blank. She picked up a black piece and set it down cleanly, fast and precise–no reaction at all.
“Looks like Ethan cares about you a lot,” Henry said while making his next move. “Seems he wants a shared hobby so he has something to talk about with you.”
Cassia finally showed the faintest expression, a tiny smile hiding in her eyes.
“He wants to bond over chess? That’ll be hard. At the very least, he’d need to play me to a draw.”
Her black piece landed with a soft click.
Play her to a draw?
Henry nodded, as if he understood.
“Then I guess only The World could do that.”
“When you talk to your student, tell him to advise Ethan to stop trying,” Cassia said lazily while placing another piece. “He’s not type.”
Now Henry was interested..
He held a white piece near his chin.
“Then, what is your type?”
“You’re not usually the gossip type,” Cassia said.
“I’m not. But when it comes to you, I become quite curious.”
He could clearly tell she had zero romantic interest in Ethan, and he honestly wondered what kind of person could ever catch the eye of someone as cool and capable as her.
“What kind of guy would meet your
standards?”
He was almost certain such a person didn’t exist.
Henry didn’t rush his move. He simply watched her, waiting for an answer.
After a moment, Cassia suddenly said, “At the very least, someone who can cook creamy tomato beef pasta… and someone who sings well.”
Henry blinked. What?
A hundred thousand question marks popped into his head.
He had imagined many possible answers, but he never expected something so… simple.
He thought her standards would be strict. After all, she was outstanding in every way. If a guy wasn’t at least as good as her, how could he possibly match her?
While he had been waiting for Cassia’s answer, he had also been wondering what kind of truly outstanding guy could ever be

worthy of a girl as talented as her.
Cooking pasta could probably be learned easily. But singing–that required talent.
Did Ethan sing well?
Honestly, Henry thought it might be more useful to have Ethan practice singing than practice chess.
Even if the result ended up the same, at least he wouldn’t be working in the wrong direction.
Henry suddenly remembered the last gathering, when he saw Draven walking side by side with Cassia down the hill, the sunset glowing behind them.
