As they got closer to Chesthale Peak, the road became rougher, narrower, and more worn down.

It wasn’t a concrete road or asphaltit was a dirt and gravel road.

There weren’t many people or cars on this road, but whenever a car passed, it kicked of dust.

Hasn’t this road been fixed yet?Cassia looked out the window as dust filled the air, completely blocking the view outside.

The swirling dust ruined the scenery, which annoyed her a little.

The Lincoln bumped along, and Charlie was sweating as he drove.

Even with decades of driving experience, he had to be extremely careful on a road like that.

Three years ago, Chesthale Peak didn’t even have a road. The town was completely cut off from the outside world. If the townsfolk wanted to go to town or the city, they had to climb over a mountain. It was far, rugged, and troublesome!

Sacha also looked out the window. Even though the dust made it impossible to see anything, it still stirred something in her.

Later, Rosalie’s dad came back and paid to build this road, connecting the town to the outside world. Thanks to this road, I got the chance to leave the mountains and go to Zrario High.”

Yeah, I know.Cassia replied.

When the road was first built, it looked just like this. I thought it would’ve been fully paved by now,Sacha added.

I thought it would be fixed soon, too,Cassia said, almost to herself, still looking outside.

She remembered that before she returned to the Woods, she had already told Richard to use the plantation’s money to build the road under his name.

Three years had passed. The road was open, but it was still in this terrible condition!

Watching the dust outside. Cassia thought she’d need to have a serious talk with Richard.

Just as she was thinking, the Lincoln suddenly slammed on the brakes. A skinny, frail old man with a sly grin rushed toward them.

Inside the Hummer Plantation at Chesthale Peak, in the director’s office.

A middleaged man with broad shoulders and a slim waist, who looked somewhat like Rosalie, was on the phone when his nose suddenly itched.

Achoo!

On the other end of the call was a worker from the Chesthale toll booth. Mr. Scott, are you alright?

AhemI’m fine.Richard wiped his nose and continued excitedly. You just said you saw Boss at the toll booth? She’s heading toward Chesthale Peak with Rosalie?

Yes, Mr. Scott, the worker replied. But the road in the town hasn’t been fully repaired

Richard sat on the bed and smiled. That’s not a big issue. As long as we don’t run into certain troublemakers blocking the road, the main road is wide enough for a car to pass.

Certain troublemakers? Do you mean

I mean the Dillinghams!

Achoo!

Just as Richard finished speaking angrily, somewhere else, two darkskinned, skinny mena father and sonboth sneezed loudly.

They lived in Chesthale Peak. The father was Nathan Dillingham, and the son was Bryan Dillingham.

Damn it, who’s talking crap about me behind my back?Bryan cursed, swinging his fist.

Forget that for now!

Nathan stood with his hands on his hips and smacked Bryan’s dusty head.

Keep your eyes sharp. Don’t miss a single passing car!

The spot where Nathan and Bryan stood was right by Chesthale Peak’s main road, near the

entrance.

Because of road construction, the surface had been torn up, exposing yellow dirt filled with deep and shallow pits everywhere. It was extremely hard to walk on.

Even on foot, they had to be careful.

By the dusty roadside, Bryan’s small eyes were wide open, like taillights glowing through

smog.

Suddenly, a silver sedan slowed down as it approached, kicking up dust.

Bryan, look! That’s not a local car. Go stop it!Nathan shouted excitedly, pointing at the silver sedan.

Bryan moved fast and lunged straight at the car.

Holy crap! Are you trying to die?!

A person suddenly jumped out, and the driver slammed on the brakes in panic.

The car stopped in time and didn’t hit Bryan, but he threw his hands up and screamed, then collapsed onto the hood.

The driver thought he had hit someone and quickly got out to check.

Hey, are you okay?

Bryan rolled off the hood and fell to the ground, blocking the car’s front wheel.

You hit my son! My poor son!

Nathan staggered over and dropped to his knees beside Bryan, crying loudly in a well- practiced act.

The driver froze, thinking he was in serious trouble.
