Chapter 513 His Boss
“Who is it? Your enemy!”
As the words fell, another sandbag filled with stones flew straight at Bryan’s face.
Cassia knocked his hands off and moved aside in a flash.
Whoosh!
“Ahhh!”
Smack!
Without a shield, Bryan couldn’t dodge. The sandbag hit him square in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Cassia glanced down at the two men lying motionless on the ground, then looked up toward the hillside. A middle–aged man stood there against the light.
“Dad!”
Rosalie rushed out of the Lincoln and ran straight toward Richard.
“Rosalie, are you okay? Did those bastards do anything to you?”
Just moments ago, Richard had looked like an untouchable boss. But the instant he saw his precious daughter, his stern, furious expression melted into a warm smile. He opened his arms and caught Rosalie as she crashed into his chest like a little cannonball.
“Dad! Nathan touched me, and he just tried to assault my friend! Good thing you showed up in time!”
Originally, Richard had been waiting at the plantation. But as time passed and Cassia still hadn’t shown up, he began to worry.
I hope my hunch isn’t right.
He thought worriedly while waiting.
So, he left and followed the main road through the town.
As he neared the entrance, he received Charlie’s call.
Sure enough, those two scumbags, Bryan and Nathan, were causing trouble for Rosalie and Cassia!
He wasn’t worried about Cassia. He knew she was tough and could easily take on ten people at once. But his daughter was unarmed and had never learned any self–defense, so he was afraid she might get hurt.
Nathan had already touched his daughter.
Thankfully, he arrived in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
The thought made Richard tighten his hold around Rosalie.
“Alright… It’s okay now.”

“Dad, come with me.” Rosalie took her father’s hand and led him over to Cassia. When they reached her, she introduced, “Dad, this is Cassia, the friend I’ve told you about a lot.”
Cassia looked at Richard and gave a small nod.
“Hello, Mr. Scott.”
The way Richard looked at Cassia didn’t carry even the slightest hint of an elder looking at a junior. Instead, it was more like a subordinate looking at a boss.
“Boss, thanks for taking care of my daughter.”
“Mm,” Cassia responded flatly.
Rosalie covered her mouth, staring at her father in disbelief.

From the way he and Cassia spoke, it felt like they had known each other for a long time, and her father even seemed to treat Cassia with a great deal of respect.
She already knew Cassia was a big shot, but was her status really high enough to make the CEO of a Fortune 500 company like the Scotts address her as “boss“?
Charlie widened his eyes as he looked at Cassia.
Not just Rosalie–Charlie and Sacha both looked at Cassia with a new layer of respect.
“Dad, did you and Cassia… have known each other for a long time?”
“Yeah. Thanks to her, I was able to marry your mom.”
He and Rosalie’s mother, Gloria Scott, had a child before marriage. Despite the Laurents‘ opposition, she secretly gave birth to
Rosalie.
Back then, Richard was using the money Gloria gave him to start a business. He planned to raise Rosalie in secret. Once he became successful and could grandly marry Gloria, he would reveal everything.
But in the end, the truth couldn’t be hidden. When Rosalie was nine, the Laurents found out about her.
It just so happened that his business failed around that time. He fell into debt and lost everything. The Laurents took away his lover and child. The three of them were torn apart.
So, Richard was truly in despair at that time.
Fortunately, fate showed him mercy. Just as he stood by the river and was ready to end it all, he met Cassia.
Looking at Cassia, who was about the same age as his daughter, the image of his daughter’s smile suddenly appeared in his mind, and he realized he couldn’t die yet.
But he had nothing left and couldn’t be with his family. Even if he stayed alive, what chance or meaning did lite really hold?
He poured his heart out to a nine–year–old girl, venting all the hardships and pressure of being an adult The young Cassia listened quietly. When he finally ran out of words, she casually placed a contract in front of him and told him that she was the director of Hummer Plantation. She was willing to help him, but in exchange, he had to agree to manage the plantation for her.

Until now, Richard still clearly remembered the bold title at the top of that black–and–white document-“Hummer Plantation Agency Agreement.”
At that time, he stared at the little girl in a daze, like a fool, watching her for several minutes.
Naturally, he didn’t believe that a little girl who hadn’t even finished growing her teeth could run a plantation. But she had quietly listened to him ramble on for so long. Even if it had been some kind of scam to trick him, he still found comfort in it, taking it as her way of consoling him.
