When she walked to the edge of the farmland, se heard the sound of a fight coming from the planting sheds.
Cassia ran toward the noise. When she arrived, she saw a dark shape in the shadows.
Two people were fighting, and by the roadside lay two fruit trees that had been pulled out.
Cassia squinted to see clearly. She saw Richard fighting with someone.
That person was Bryan.
However, it looked like Richard had the upper hand.
With a sweeping kick, Richard knocked Bryan to the ground. Then he quickly pressed down, sitting on top of him, his legs locking Bryan’s waist so he couldn’t move.
Richard’s fists fell like rain, hitting Bryan’s face and body, punch after punch, making him cry and scream.
After beating him enough, Richard finally stood up and wiped his nose.
Cassia walked up and asked, “What’s going on?”
“Hugo couldn’t learn your planting techniques, so he teamed up with this guy and came to steal trees in the middle of the night. I caught them red–handed.”
“Where’s Hugo?”
“That bastard ran off!” Richard spat angrily.
Thinking about it made him even more annoyed. He blamed himself for getting distracted and losing the other one.
“It’s fine. I just came from the security booth. Hugo should still be in the plantation.”
“Yeah.” Richard fixed his shirt, which was wrinkled from the fight, and continued, “By the way, Bryan says his dad, Nathan, knows a big boss. I thought that boss might be Eagle. That’s why I called you over. I want to force some useful info out of this brat.”
As he spoke, Richard bent down, grabbed Bryan by the collar, and lifted his unconscious body.
“It’d be best if we can find out where Eagle is. That way, your three boxes of poppies can be recovered sooner, and we can give Richard an explanation.”

“It’s useless to question the kid. If the father knows him, then we should ask the father,” Cassia said calmly with her arms crossed.
“You’re right.” Richard nodded. That made sense
“Then what do we do with this guy?” he asked, lifting Bryan slightly.
“Let him go. Once Nathan knows you beat his son, he won’t accept it. He’ll come to us himself to get revenge.”
Richard nodded. He understood what Cassia meant.
“Hugo is still in the plantation. I’m worried if he saw you fighting Bryan, he might do something harmful to the place.” After saying that, Cassia held out her hand. “Do you have a photo of Hugo? Let me see.”
After Cassia left, Richard immediately took action.
He first called a few college boys from the plantation dorms and had them carry Bryan back to the Dillinghams overnight, leaving him under the big tree at the entrance of their yard without caring further.
After handling Bryan as instructed, Richard dismissed the students and began searching the plantation.
Soon, he saw a shadow hiding in the darkness.
However, Richard didn’t dare to rush forward because the shape could have been Cassia searching for Hugo.
When Richard crept up behind the shape, he realized it wasn’t her. It was Hugo!
Richard wanted to stand up and grab him to ask about the time the plantation was damaged, but then he saw Hugo walking forward while acting very paranoid.
When he was following Bryan and Hugo earlier Richard lost them because they suddenly split up at a fork in the road.
Bryan headed toward the plantation exit, while lugo went deeper inside.
“Why didn’t he go home with Bryan? What’s he still doing here?”
Richard wanted to see what this weird guy was up to. He decided not to catch him yet and followed him quietly instead.
He trailed behind all the way to the northern wall of the plantation.

“Look at that. What is Hugo doing sneaking around the wall?”
Richard hid in a pile of grass nearby, secretly watching Hugo.

Hugo was looking through the grass near the wall as if he were searching for something.
After a while, he moved to another spot.
“What is he looking for?”
Richard grew more curious and followed again.
Maybe Hugo felt someone following him because he suddenly turned around and walked back.
When they reached the dorm area, Richard pretended nothing had happened. He stepped out from the darkness and walked toward him.
“Hugo.”
As he walked, he asked, “Have you seen anyone suspicious?”
Hugo thought Richard was asking about the tree thieves. He quickly explained, “I haven’t seen anyone.”
But his eyes kept glancing toward the greenhouse ahead. His expression had already betrayed him, though he didn’t realize it.
