The moment he stepped into the office, the first thing Richard did was take down the business license hanging right in the center of the room.
“Here, open your eyes and take a good look. Read the name on it carefully. Cassia Wood. She’s the owner of Hummer Plantation.”
Hugo held the gold–embossed license in his hands and clearly saw the name printed on it: “Cassia Wood.”
From the name alone, he couldn’t tell the gender, but the wording made it obvious that it was a girl’s name.
Come to think of it, Richard had called someone “Boss” a few times before…
“Holy shit…”
“Well? Hurry up and sign the resignation agreement! Don’t waste Boss’s time. She’s heading up to the hills tomorrow, needs to sleep early.”
“No way! You guys forged this license!” Hugo still refused to believe this girl was the real boss of the plantation. Suddenly, another possibility crossed his mind.
Back when Bryan and his old man Nathan ran a small food stall, they once made a fake business license, too. Unfortunately, it got reported and shut down. Ever since then, they knew there was a hotline specifically for reporting fraud.
“I’m calling it right now! Your plantation is finished!” Hugo said as he pulled out his phone and dialed.
Cassia and Richard simply stood there, quietly watching him.
Following the automated prompts, Hugo added he inspector on WhatsApp, snapped a photo of the license, and sent it over.
“Hmph, just you wait!” Hugo pointed at Cassia and Richard, throwing out threats while waiting for a reply.
Ring! Ring!
Before long, his phone rang.
Hugo quickly answered.
At first, his expression screamed, You’re done for! ust wait to go bankrupt. But as the call went on,

By the end, his eyes were wide as saucers, his mouth hanging open wide enough to fit an egg. staring at Cassia like she was something unreal.
“You… you really are… It’s real… the license is real…”
Even after the person on the other end hung up. Hugo remained frozen in that same posture with his phone to his ear, staring at Cassia. He was completely stunned.
“Alright, you’ve seen the proof. Now, hurry up and sign the resignation agreement. Don’t keep me up any longer.”
As she spoke, Cassia glanced out the window.
The night was deep and heavy. It must’ve been around eleven.
A few minutes later, Cassia walked out of the office holding the contract, now signed with Hugo’s name. Behind her, Richard escorted Hugo out as well.
“Um… the contract’s signed… I—I can go now, right?”
Now that he knew who the real boss was, Hugo’s attitude had done a complete one–eighty. He looked like an eager lapdog, trying his best to please.
Cassia tucked the contract away.
“Yeah, yeah, go already! And don’t ever step foot in Hummer Plantation again!” Richard waved him off impatiently.
“Alright, alright, I’m leaving now.”
Hugo turned and walked toward the plantation ate.
But after only a few steps, he spat on the ground lifted his chin, and continued walking, gradually disappearing into the night.
Richard frowned slightly at the sight.
“This guy doesn’t look like he’s letting it go. Boss should I follow him just in case he tries something against us?”
Richard turned to Cassia, only to see her stretch lazily, as if she hadn’t noticed anything at all.
“I’m going back to sleep. You should too.”
Richard stared at her, confused.

That didn’t seem like her at all.
Then, he saw Cassia give him a subtle wink.
Understanding instantly, Richard yawned.

“Ah… Boss, you’re right. A guy like Hugo couldn’t pull anything off anyway. Yeah, I’m so sleepy… Time to head back.”
Hugo was hiding in the shadows, secretly watching everything.
Only after Cassia and Richard left did he move.
But he didn’t actually leave the plantation.
Instead, he circled around to the north side of the wall, dug a shovel out from a pile of grass, glanced around cautiously, and began digging into the dirt at the base of the wall, uncovering a wooden board.
As soon as he pried it open, he heard a faint shout coming from the other side of the wall. He immediately crouched down and whispered into the hole, “Hey, is that you, Bryan?”
A voice quickly answered from the other side. “Hugo? That you?”
“Yeah, it’s me,” Hugo replied in a hushed voice, covering his mouth. “Bro, this is bad. The plantation doesn’t belong to that Scott guy; it’s owned by a woman named Cassia Wood. I… I got fired too…”
“It’s fine! We’ve got plenty of gasoline out here. Just come out first!”
The voice from outside the wall called back.
