Chapter 564 I’m Hungry
Because he didn’t want to lie to a kid.
Sterling was such a pure, sweet child. Lying to him just didn’t sit right, and it might even lead him astray.

But at the same time, to avoid leaving Sterling with any psychological trauma and to keep him from worrying, Seven felt that maybe lying to comfort him was the better choice.
While Seven was caught in this internal struggle, Sterling moved closer and sat right beside him.
“You wanna watch TV too? Then let’s watch together. What do you want to watch? PAW Patrol or Boonie Bears?” Seven gave an awkward smile as he leaned forward to grab the remote, not daring to look Sterling in the face.
“Is Cassia really on a date with Draven?” Sterling stared straight at Seven, his expression serious.
“Yeah, she is.” Seven glanced at Sterling, then quickly looked away, pretending to keep watching TV.
Sterling stood up, took two steps forward, and blocked Seven’s view.
“Don’t lie to me.”
Seven was speechless.
He looked into Sterling’s clear eyes, so clean and untainted.
Facing a face like that, he felt a crushing wave of guilt.
“You’re lying to me!”
Sterling caught the brief slip in Seven’s eyes without missing it.
Seven pressed a hand to his forehead, a headache coming on.
“Something happened to Cassia! Right?” Sterling’s voice turned frantic, his face going pale in an instant.
“Don’t panic. She’s with Mr. Grey right now.” Seven tilted his head toward the side.
Following his gesture, Sterling looked out the window at the condominium building across from them.
Cassia is at Draven’s condominium?
“I’m going to find her!”
He had to see Cassia with his own eyes and make sure she was really okay before he could relax.
“Hey, hey…” Seven quickly reached out and grabbed Sterling.
“You can’t go.”
“I’m going!” Sterling insisted, still pulling toward the door as he spoke.
“Come on, kid!” Seven let go of his hand and quickly stepped forward, blocking the door.

“Ms. Wood is really fine, b–but it’s not convenient for you to go right now.”
Not convenient?
“Why?” Sterling asked, confused.
“B–because…”
Seven looked at Sterling’s innocent face and ran a hand through his hair, completely torn inside.
Should I tell a kid something like this?
“What is it? If you don’t tell me, I’m going right now!”
Sterling couldn’t hold back and raised his voice at Seven.
Seven looked at Sterling, lips pressed into a tight straight line, falling silent.
After what felt like forever, his chest rose and fell heavily as he let out a deep breath.
Forget it. The kid is ten. It’s time he learned some of this stuff.
He might as well treat it like a basic sex ed lesson.
“I–I heard it from Mr. Grey that Ms. Wood was…”
Seven briefly explained what had happened, then looked at Sterling.
Sterling said nothing, just kept his head lowered.

“Kid, you really don’t need to worry. Ms. Wood will be fine. And Mr. Grey might be my boss, but we’re like brothers. I know what kind of man he is. He would never hurt her.”
Sterling kept his eyes lowered, his long, thick lashes hiding everything in his gaze.
“I understand,” Sterling said quietly, then turned and walked toward his room.
“Hey, kid, what are you doing? You’re not watching TV anymore?” Seven followed a couple of steps behind and called out.
“I’m sleepy. I want to sleep.” Sterling closed the door behind him and lay back on the bed.
“This kid…” Seven scratched the back of his head.
Looking at Sterling’s slightly distant back, Seven felt uneasy.
What if the kid is overthinking this?
If this triggers his autism, that’ll be trouble.
Sterling lay on the bed and closed his eyes.
After a while, he realized his mind was filled with everything Seven had just said, and he couldn’t fall asleep at all.
He sat up and perched on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the window seat with the curtains drawn.

Late into the quiet night, after who knew how long, Sterling finally jumped off the bed, slipped on his slippers, and walked out of
the room.
The clock on the wall showed 11 p.m., and Seven was still sitting on the couch in the living room.
Hearing the movement, he turned to look at Sterling.
“Still not asleep?”
“I’m hungry,” Sterling said flatly, looking at Seven.
Seven stood up from the couch, glanced at Sterling’s stomach, and asked, “What do you want to eat?”
“Crab,” Sterling said.
Seven glanced at the clock on the wall.
“Alright. But Atelier Zrario doesn’t do delivery this late. It’s fine. I’ll go buy it for you.”
Seven walked over to the shoe cabinet by the door and picked up his shoes.
“Stay home and wait for me!”
As he spoke, he put on his shoes, and after opening the door, he still turned back to remind Sterling again and again, “Don’t run off! Wait for me, got it? It’s late. If you go out, you could easily get targeted by bad people.”
