Chapter 565 Bankrupt
After nagging through several reminders, Seven finally left.
While Seven was out buying crab for Sterling, Aspen arrived at the police station.
“Dad, explain something to me. Why…why would you do something like that?”
Aspen stared at Vance with a dark, tense expression.
It was obvious he was in a terrible mood.

“What do you mean, something like that? What did I do?” Vance saw his son come to visit him, but instead of a warm greeting, he was met with a look like he was being interrogated.
“Why did you arrange for Mr. Wilcox and the others to drug Cassia’s coffee?”
“What are you talking about? I don’t know anything about that.” Vance had already guessed what Aspen came storming in about.
Watching Aspen stand up from his chair in agitation, Vance silently calculated the timing.
He had made sure the dose was strong. By now, Cassia and Mike should’ve already been in the middle of it.
He had noticed Aspen’s attitude toward Cassia had softened recently. He was even becoming protective of her, so he hadn’t told him about any of this.
But he was surprised he found out this fast.
Seeing Vance stubbornly deny it with that same attitude, Aspen’s eyes reddened with anger.
“Dad, how can you be this fake? Cassia is your daughter. Your own daughter. How could you do something like this to her?”
“You little bastard! Do you even know who you’re talking to right now?!” Vance snapped, furious.
‘Dad, at this point, do you really still need to pretend?” Aspen’s gaze was full of cold mockery.
‘Drop the act. I already overheard Grandma talking to Mr. Wilcox, and I called Mr. Grey. He already got Cassia out. If he hadn’t made t in time, Cassia would’ve…”
Smack!
The sharp sound of a slap rang out, and the room fell silent.
The guard standing nearby tensed up as Vance suddenly got to his feet.
Since they were face–to–face without any glass between them, they could physically reach each other.
That was why the guard was on edge, worried Vance might turn more violent.
Vance stood there after slapping Aspen, his face flushed an ugly mix of colors as he gritted his teeth and roared, “You little bastard, how dare you ruin my plan! Do you have any idea how much profit Cassia could’ve brought to this company? The Wilcoxes are the richest family in Zrario. I finally got Mr. Wilcox to agree, and you pull something like this. Not only did you offend the Wilcoxes, but you also just destroyed a huge money–making opportunity for Wood Group! I never should’ve handed the company over to you!“,

Aspen raised his hand and touched the side of his face.
It was swollen and burning.
He wiped the corner of his mouth, where a trace of blood lingered.
It was obvious just how hard that slap had been.

“You’re so emotional. How am I supposed to trust you with the company in the future? I taught you from the time you were a kid how to be a proper businessman, and now you’ve forgotten all of it? How did I end up with a son who can’t do anything right and only knows how to ruin things?” Vance lifted his hand again, clearly wanting to strike him once more.
Aspen’s eyes widened as he stared at Vance in shock.
“So you admit it?”
Admit that he arranged it, that he did it, that he saw Cassia as nothing more than a tool to make money.
Now he finally understood why Cassia hated the Woods so much, why she wanted nothing more than to completely cut ties with them
Ever since he found out she was the one who saved him, ever since he realized the girl he had been thinking about all this time was Cassia, he had been consumed by guilt.
He felt like he owed her everything. He wanted to care for her, protect her, and spoil her, but they–no, Vance had used him to hurt her like this.
It was unforgivable. Absolutely unforgivable.
Aspen calmly wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and looked straight at Vance.
“What you
