Chapter 567 Pushed Blame
It’s over. It’s over. The Woods just offended the richest family in Zrario, the Wilcoxes!

That stupid girl. She should’ve just taken the drug and gone along with it. Why fight back? What’s so bad about marrying into the Wilcoxes? I think they’re great. Marrying into the Wilcoxes means the same luxury as staying with the Woods. She’ll have good food, a comfortable life, and no worries about money, and she’ll even become Mrs. Wilcox. What a glorious thing that would’ve been!
And now look what happened. She dragged the Woods into offending the Wilcoxes because of this.
Once we’ve offended the Wilcoxes, we can forget about surviving in Zrario.
That girl is nothing but bad luck!
Right as Victoria was fuming, Vance’s voice came through the phone.
“Good thing that Grey kid showed up in time.”
“Huh? Why would you say that?” Victoria froze for a second.
“Mom, there’s something I need to tell you. I just found out myself,” Vance continued over the phone.
“What is it?” Victoria held the phone and glanced toward the private room where Cassia and Mike had been earlier, then pulled her gaze back and headed downstairs.
“Wilcox Group…went bankrupt!”
“What?” Victoria stopped in her tracks.
“It’s true! Check the headlines right now if you don’t believe me.”
Victoria turned on the speaker, kept the call going, exited the call screen, and opened the news.
“It’s real!”
Her eyes locked onto the screen, widening more and more the longer she stared, shock flooding her expression.
“H–how is that possible?!”
Her voice trembled with disbelief.
“It’s only been a short while! A company as big as Wilcox Group… How did it suddenly collapse overnight?”
Vance shook his head.
“I don’t know either.”
Forget Victoria–he still hadn’t even processed the shock himself.
“Then…Mr. Wilcox?” Victoria asked.
It would’ve been better not to bring him up. The moment she did, Vance’s anger flared.

“Mr. Wilcox isn’t in his right mind. He came straight to me, cursing and swinging like a lunatic. The shock must’ve hit him hard. He’s probably lost it.”
Vance thought back to how Mike looked just now, like a madman who’d escaped from a psych ward, along with that vicious curse he had spat out.
Damn it. It’s not like I caused the bankruptcy. Instead of going after Grey Group, the guy came after me, beating and cursing me!
Looks like Mr. Wilcox really snapped.
“Did they offend someone?” Victoria continued guessing.
Vance fell silent.
He narrowed his eyes, thinking it through, then said, “Wilcox Group was acquired by a subsidiary of Grey Group… I’m guessing maybe they offended someone from Grey Group?”
Victoria nodded in agreement.
“That sounds possible.”
As she spoke, a thought suddenly crossed her mind.
b… Mr. Grey… Could it be-”
r off immediately. “How could that kid possibly be from Grey Group? If he really had that kind of backing, would he be olkswagen? I’ve seen it myself. That beat–up car’s worth maybe 20 grand at most. I’m guessing he’s just some small owner’s son. If someone that broke was actually from Grey Group, then I’d be the richest man in the world.”
Victoria thought about it and agreed.
After all, Grey was a pretty common last name. In a country with over a billion people, there were plenty of them.
“Let’s not worry about that for now. Cassia… After what we did to her this time, she probably hates us even more. Getting her to come back now is basically impossible,” Victoria said, letting out a long sigh.
“Sigh… Aspen’s actually been treating her pretty well lately too…”
“Don’t worry about it. You’re her grandmother, and Aspen’s her brother. Families don’t hold grudges overnight. Give it a day. She’ll come around. She’ll understand you did this for her own good,” Vance said.
Hearing that, Victoria was stunned speechless.
He was the one who arranged everything, yet he pushed all the responsibility onto her and Aspen in a single sentence.
As if this had all been their doing and had nothing to do with him.
But then again…
What difference was there between what her son did and what she and Aspen did?
They were all involved. There was no escaping responsibility.
