Brie froze when she heard the news. Her face turned stiff, and she felt uneasy. She had always been the most popular girl at Zrario Highthe school’s queen bee. Now, that bumpkin showed up, and I’m supposed to hand over my crown? No way.

She saw a crowd gathered outside the advanced class. All trying to peek inside. It made her furious. Why did that bumpkin have to come home? Why does she have to enroll in this school?

Those thoughts circulated in Brie’s mind. She pressed her lips together, her hands curling into tight fists.

Brie, are you okay?Danica asked carefully. Bric’s dark look was so scary that Danica didn’t dare come closer.

Brie quickly realized she was losing her cool. She forced a calm smile and put on the act. I’m fine, Danica. After all, she’s family.

Before she could finish, Danica burst out, No way! I don’t have a sister like her. She and I come from completely different worlds. We’ll never get along!

Perfect! Brie hid her satisfaction. That was exactly what she wanted. She wanted to make everyone in the family turn against Cassia.

She wasn’t even Vance and Geneva’s real daughter, but they had always treated her better than their own.

When she heard people talking about the new transfer student, beautiful beyond words, everyone staring in awe, Brie was already annoyed. When she found out that girl was Cassia, she nearly exploded.

Great. As if seeing her at home wasn’t bad enough, now she’s show up at my school too?

Brie muttered under her breath, We’re family, huh.”

Danica snorted. Whatever. After school, we’ll ride home together. As for her? Let her walk.Danica spoke with her usual spoiled tone. She was the little tyrant of the family, and no one ever dared to scold her.

Brie, on the other hand, was secretly pleased. Still, she kept a troubled look on her face, pretending to be caught in the middle.

Danica looked at her and sighed softly.

Brie’s just too kind. We are close. I need to protect her.

Cassia, you better watch out.

When the final bell rang, Brie and Danica walked out hand in hand, heading straight to their family’s car.

They didn’t wait for Cassia.

Once they were gone, Cassia pulled out her phone and called Jake.

Send a car to pick me up at Zrario High,Cassia said the moment the call connected.

Jake froze for half a second, then straightened up immediately. Got it!

Getting to serve Cassia was an honorno way he’d let anyone else do it.

He jumped into her newest Mercedes and sped off.

Within minutes, the sleek black car rolled up to the school gate, shining under the sun. The polished curves and luxury design turned heads everywhere.

Cassia walked toward it and rolled her eyes.

Jake hopped out and quickly opened the back door for her, trying to please her.

Next time,Cassia said flatly, can you pick a car that’s not so flashy? I don’t need to be the center of

attention.

Boss, I’d love to,Jake said helplessly, but this is the least fancy one in your garage. The others are a Maserati, a stretch Lincoln, and a Bugatti. None of them exactly scream lowkey.Jake looked a little hurt. Boss, I do want to keep a low profile, but this is the best we can do.”

Cassia gave him a look. What an annoying thing to say.

She climbed into the car. Jake quickly started the engine.

Buy a simpler car,Cassia ordered. And find me a driver. I’ll be coming to school often; it’s inconvenient.

Jake’s shoulders slumped, his tone pitiful. Boss, please, let me do it. Driving you around is an honor.

You’ve got more important things to do,Cassia said coolly. Having you as my chauffeur is a waste of talent.”

Jake sighed, defeated. All right, if you say so.”

After a pause, he added, Boss, I just don’t get it. Why did you go back to your family? They never treated you right. Just look at todaythey sent a car but didn’t even bother to give you a ride home. Want me to teach them a lesson? Bankrupting the Woods would be as easy as crushing an ant.

Cassia’s voice softened a little. No. Not yet.Even she wasn’t sure why. Maybe after growing up in an orphanage, she just wanted to know what it felt like to have a family again.

But right now, it was nothing like she imagined.

Alright,Jake said seriously, his tone cold and sharp. I’ll do as you say. But if someone upsets you, I’ll make sure they’re losing sleep.

Cassia didn’t reply. She simply looked out the car window. Her long lashes fluttered slightly as the city lights passed by.

Brie, pinch me. Am I seeing things?Danica’s eyes went wide in disbelief.

Gosh! Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Cassia actually got into that Mercedes?

Everyone had been watching the sleek luxury car parked by the front gate. Danica was no exception.

The car had barely stopped when the driver stepped out and respectfully opened the door. Cassia slipped into the back seat with her usual calm.

It was the last thing they expected.

Danica’s jaw nearly hit the floor. Hhow could she possibly know someone that rich? And that’s a luxury car! Isn’t she just some backwater nobody?

She blinked hard, as if trying to wake up from a dream. Tthis is unreal!

Brie had seen it toothe car was parked not far from where they stood

She frowned, confusion flickering across her face.

Suddenly, an idea formed in her mind.

It was definitely Cassia, she said slowly. But it’s strange. Why would she be in a car like that?

Danica scoffed in disdain. Who knows what kind of shady people she’s mixed up with?

Brie smirked faintly, playing along. She said casually, You know how some girls are these daysthrowing away their selfrespect for money. They get a sugar daddy, move into fancy houses, and drive expensive cars.

Danica’s eyes widened as the thought sank in. She excitedly echoed, You’re right! That must be it. What else could it be?

Brie gave her a glance. Her words had landed exactly where she wanted. She grabbed Danica’s arm and said sweetly, Come on, let’s go home.

When they got home, Cassia still hadn’t returned.

She had gone to check on her studio, but Danica didn’t know that.

Of course, she had plenty to say. How come she left before us but still isn’t back yet?Danica muttered. She threw her backpack onto the couch with a thud. Her frustration was written all over her face.

Just then, Victoria walked out of her room, surprised by the noise. My sweet girl, what’s wrong? Why are you so upset today?

Grandma, you won’t believe this!Danica pouted, slipping into her usual spoiled tone. Dad actually put that bumpkin in my class. Can you believe it? Now I have to see her every single day!

Victoria’s face darkened instantly. She scowled and hissed, Has your father lost his mind? With grades like hers, she’ll embarrass our family. Why not just find her a vocational school or something?

Danica nodded quickly, glad that Victoria was on her side. Exactly! That’s really where she belongs. I don’t even know what Dad was thinking!

When Vance gets home, I’ll ask him myself.Victoria said angrily. She couldn’t stand seeing her precious granddaughter upset.

Grandma, did you know? Cassia just got picked up by a fancy car,” Danica whispered, her tone full of mystery.
