Chapter 1008 A Relentless Sister

“How about Victor claws back half of the Ashen Pact and hands it to you? That’s hundreds of billions–is that enough?”

Diana: “…”

So the plan was to fleece her own Ashen Pact just to turn around and pay her for the “privilege” of marrying her daughter?

“Since when did you become the type of person who helps the buyer count the money after you’ve been sold?”

Tessa hummed playfully. “Just tell me, do we have a deal or not?”

“Fine, fine, I agree,” Diana sighed. “Stop clawing at it. If you take any more, will it even be the Ashen Pact anymore? It’ll be a hollow shell!”

Truth be told, the Ashen Pact had suffered massive losses recently. Of course, if it hadn’t been for those losses, taking control of the organization wouldn’t have been nearly so easy for her.

“Now we’re talking,” Tessa teased.

“Does he… treat you well?” Diana asked softly, unable to help herself.

She had met Victor a few times, and he always seemed like a block of ice–hardly the type to be doting on a woman. Her precious daughter deserved someone who could provide warmth and care for a lifetime.

“He does. Of course he does,” Tessa replied. “If he didn’t treat me well, do you really think he’d have the chance to stay by my side this long?”

Clearly, he wouldn’t.

“Good enough, then.” Diana paused. “By the way, Dale is definitely going to come looking for you. Ignore him.”

“Will he hurt me?” That was Tessa’s primary concern.

“He won’t hurt you.”

After all, Tessa was currently the daughter on his DNA test results. Between that and the “infertility” report Diana had leaked, Dale was practically spiraling into madness. Having a child that belonged to him was everything to him right now.

As soon as Tessa hung up, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her from behind. She nearly jumped.

“What are you doing?”

Victor rested his chin on her shoulder. The height difference made the posture a bit awkward for him, but he leaned into her like a great lion seeking warmth.

“What’s wrong?” she asked softly.

He was finally starting to recover. The entire way back from Falvaria, he had been vomiting so relentlessly he felt like he was dying. His body had been completely sapped of strength. Now, he finally felt human again.

“Well, look who prescribed it,” Tessa said. “If that didn’t work, you really would have been vomiting for the whole nine months.”

“Who gave it to you?”

“Rianne.”

Now, Rianne–she was the one who truly deserved the title of a genius. You only had to describe the symptoms once and she could pinpoint exactly what was needed. Percy was quite useless in comparison.

As for Eddie, he wasn’t just useless; he was absurd. When Stella was pregnant, the man actually suspected she had stomach cancer.

After getting off the plane and parting ways with Eddie, Rianne had been intentionally avoiding him at the hospital. Even when it came time to head home in the evening, she didn’t leave with him.

Evie had already arrived home ahead of them. Originally, she didn’t want to be a third wheel now that things were heating up between Eddie and Rianne. But her brother was so unreliable that she couldn’t help but worry!
