Amorah POV

The image of my former pack elder stayed burned into my mind the entire ride to the hearing chamber the next morning.

Conrad sat beside me in silence, one hand resting against my thigh while the convoy moved through the secured council district under heavy guard.

Neither of us pretended this was only about succession anymore.

This was personal now.

Security wolves surrounded every entrance while Alpha representatives moved through separate checkpoints under watchful eyes.

The moment our vehicle stopped, cameras from official Alpha channels turned toward us immediately.

Conrad exited first before offering me his hand without hesitation. The simple gesture should not have mattered as much as it did, but every watching wolf noticed it anyway.

His fingers tightened around mine briefly once I stepped beside him.

“You do not stand alone in there,” he murmured quietly.

I looked up at him and nodded once. “I know.”

Inside the council chamber, tension was already in the air. Representatives from multiple territories filled the elevated seating areas while council elders occupied the center platform overlooking the floor.

Holmes stood near the eastern section dressed in formal black council clothing with two Alpha allies positioned behind him. The moment his eyes landed on me, satisfaction flickered openly across his face.

That expression alone told me he believed today would destroy me publicly.

Bethany probably believed the same thing.

Conrad guided me toward the front section reserved for Supreme Alpha proceedings. The whispers ftarted almost immediately around us.

“She looks calm.”

“Is the pregnancy verified already?”

“They say the hearing could remove succession protection completely.”

I ignored every voice.

Conrad pulled out my chair himself before sitting beside me. His arm brushed mine briefly under the table, grounding me before the hearing officially began.

An older council elder finally rose from the center platform. “This hearing will address challenges regarding succession legitimacy, political stability, and matters concerning the contracted mate connected to the Supreme Alpha line.”

Holmes stood first once formal proceedings opened. “This council deserves clarity regarding the woman currently influencing Supreme Alpha succession during a period of instability.”

My jaw tightened instantly.

Holmes continued smoothly while turning toward the council seats. “Amorah’s history shows repeated patterns of disruption, political volatility, and questionable loyalties tied directly to multiple pack conflicts.”

Conrad moved slightly beside me, but I touched his hand lightly beneath the table before he could interrupt

Holmes gestured toward the side entrance. “I call forward Elder Marcus of Grey Hollow

The doors opened immediately.

The older man walked inside slowly wearing formal pack robes identical to the ones he wore the day my exile was approved years ago. Time had aged him slightly, but not enough to erase the memory attached to his face.

Marcus stopped near the center platform before bowing respectfully toward the council. “Amorah has always brought conflict around her. Even within her original pack, instability followed her relationships, her decisions, and her presence.”

Several council members exchanged looks.

Marcus continued confidently. “Her exile became necessary after repeated internal problems threatened pack unity.”

My fingers curled slowly against the table edge.

Holmes looked pleased with himself already.

Marcus glanced toward me directly. “This woman standing beside the Supreme Alpha now is not a stabilizing influence. She never has been.”

The chamber stayed quiet afterward.

The council elder turned toward me calmly. “You may respond.”

I stood up slowly from my seat.

Every eye inside the chamber followed me immediately.

Marcus expected anger from me. Holmes expected emotional reactions. They wanted me unstable enough to fit the version of me they had already sold publicly.

Instead, I folded my hands calmly in front of me.

“Elder Marcus,” I began evenly, “how long did you serve Grey Hollow before my exile?”

He frowned slightly at the question. “Thirty–two years.”

“And during those thirty–two years, how many female wolves sat on your council?”

His expression shifted slightly. “That is irrelevant.”

“No,” I answered calmly. “Your council punished disobedience.”

A younger Alpha seated near the western section leaned forward with visible interest.

I kept going before anyone could interrupt. “You call me unstable because I survived decisions designed to silence me. You call me dangerous because I refused to disappear quietly afterward.”

Marcus‘ face tightened visibly now.

I looked directly toward the council elders. “If surviving betrayal makes someone unstable, then perhaps this council should question the system producing those outcomes instead.”

The silence after that felt different.

Conrad still had not interrupted once.

That mattered more to me than any public defense he could have made instead.
