Chapter 158
Chapter 158
Conrad POV
The package had barely been opened before I ordered security to lock it down for examination. What should have been a baby shower gift had become the most disturbing delivery we had received in months,
By the time the guests left, three intelligence wolves were already reviewing the contents inside a secured conference room I stayed beside Amorah while they worked because her scent carried unease that kept growing with every photograph.
The images were spread across a long table beneath bright lights. Some showed Amorah as a child walking through markets, sitting outside schools, or entering territory buildings.
None of them looked staged. Someone had been watching her.
Someone had been close enough to follow her life for years without being noted.
Amorah sat beside me while slowly turning over another photograph. Her hand rested against the curve of her stomach, and I noticed her wolf becoming increasingly restless.
“This isn’t normal,” she said quietly. “Nobody should have these.”
I reached over and squeezed her hand gently. “They shouldn’t.”
The next photograph showed her sitting on a park bench eating ice dream. She couldn’t have been older than ten.
“I don’t even remember this day,” she admitted.
“That doesn’t matter,” I replied. “The problem is that somebody else remembered it enough to take a picture.”
Across the table, Kyra and Zane were helping sort the photographs by estimated dates. A few months ago they would have simply stared at the pictures and asked questions.
Now they were actively helping.
“This one was taken later,” Kyra said while holding up a photograph. “She’s wearing the same jacket as the school picture, but her hair is longer.”
Zane leaned closer before nodding. “And the building behind her wasn’t completed until afterward.”
One of the intelligence wolves blinked in surprise. “That’s actually correct.”
Kyra looked extremely pleased with herself.
“I told you I was useful,” she announced.
Zane rolled his eyes. “Nobody said you weren’t useful.”
“You implied it.”
“I absolutely did not.”
“You implied it spiritually.”
Despite everything happening, a small laugh escaped Amorah. The sound eased some of the tension sitting heavily inside
the room.

watchel her carefully afterward.
Her pregnancy had advanced noticeably over the past several weeks, and ereptional stress affected both her and the baby more strongly now.
The child shifted suddenly beneath her hand.
Amorah winced.
“Kick?” I asked immediately.
She nodded. “A strong one.”
Kyra immediately abandoned the photographs.
“The baby agrees with me,” she declared.
“The baby has no idea what you’re talking about,” Zane replied.
“The baby understands greatness.”
“The baby isn’t even born yet.”
“The baby has instincts.”
“The baby is trapped.”
Amorah laughed again while I shook my head. Somehow those two could start an argument about absolutely anything.
The lighter moment disappeared once another photograph was placed on the table.
This one was different.
Instead of showing Amorah alone, it showed her mother standing outside what appeared to be an old transport station.
The entire room went quiet.
Amorah immediately pushed herself forward in her chair.
“That’s her,” she whispered.
I studied the image carefully.
Her mother stood beside another adult whose face was partially obscured by shadows and distance.
At first I didn’t recognize him. Then one of the angles caught the light differently.
My stomach tightened. “No,” I said quietly,
Every head turned toward me.
“What?” Amorah asked.
I pointed toward the man beside her mother.
“I know him.”

Amorah continued staring at the image.
“If he supported the purge, why was he standing with my mother?”
“That is exactly the question we need answered,” I said.
One of the intelligence wolves immediately began searching archived records. Another started cross–checking transportation manifests and council reports from the same period.
The room became busy again. Amorah leaned back in her chair and pressed a hand against her stomach.

She narrowed her eyes at me
“You’re using our child against INE
“I’m using excellent logic.”
Despite her frustration, she allowed me to help her stand.
The twins followed us into the sitting area with several photographs still in their hands
“Look at this one,” Zane said.
He placed another image on the table.
The photograph showed a younger Amorah entering a vehicle while looking over her shoulder
Three figures stood nearby. One was her mother. The other two had been intentionally blurred.
“That wasn’t an accident,” Zane said.
I looked at him carefully.
“Why do you
think that?”
“Because everything else is clear,” he answered. “Somebody altered those people on purpose”
One of the intelligence wolves walked into the room before I could respond. His expression immediately caught my attention.
“What is it?” I asked.
He held a tablet tightly in his hand.
“We verified the identity.”
The room fell silent.
“And?”
The wolf swallowed.
“The man in the photograph is definitely Aldric Voss.”
Amorah stared at him.
“That doesn’t explain anything.”
The wolf looked visibly unsettled.
“No, Luna.”
He turned the tablet around.
“It makes things worse?

“Conrad?”
I slowly lifted my eyes toward hers.
The room seemed to hold its breath around us.
“Aldric Voss officially died twelve years ago,” I said.
Confusion crossed her face.
“But the photograph-”
I nodded.
The report remained open in my hand.
“The photograph was taken six years after his recorded death.”
