Chapter 6L-
Chapter 61
AMORAH
I remained where I was for a moment after agreeing with Conrad, letting the weight of everything settle before moving again.
The space around us had quieted, but it was not empty, because his wolves were still moving with purpose, adjusting positions and carrying out orders without needing to be reminded.
I turned slightly toward him, knowing the next step mattered more than anything we had already handled.
“You said inner grounds,” I began, keeping my tone even. “That’s not the final place, is it?”
Conrad’s attention shifted fully to me, his expression calm but focused as he considered my question. He did not rush his response, and that alone told me he was choosing his words carefully rather than reacting.
“No,” he answered. “That was immediate containment, not long–term safety.”
I nodded, already expecting that.
“Then we move them again,” I replied, watching him closely.
His gaze stayed on me, steady and assessing, before he gave a slight nod in return.
“We do,” he confirmed. “There’s a deeper section of the territory that very few know about.”
I crossed my arms lightly, thinking through that.
“How secure?” I asked.
“Completely restricted,” he replied. “No access without my command.”
That was enough for me, but I did not move immediately.
“I want to see it,” I added.
There was no challenge in my tone, only certainty.
Conrad studied me for a brief moment, then inclined his head slightly.
“You will,” he said.
We began walking without another word, moving through the inner grounds with a steady pace. His wolves made way as we passed, not stopping what they were doing but adjusting around us with quiet awareness.
I stayed close to him without thinking about it, our steps falling into the same rhythm as we moved. At one point, my hand brushed lightly against his, and the contact lingered for a second before I pulled it back.
Neither of us commented on it.
“You’ve had this in place for a while,” I said as we continued.
“Yes,” he answered.

For situations like this?” I asked.
“For anything that requires complete control,” he replied.
I let that settle, understanding what it meant without needing further explanation. This was not something he had created in response to Bethany, it was something he had always maintained.
We reached the lower section of the territory aner a few minutes, the path narrowing slightly as we moved away from the open grounds. The guards posted there straightened as soon as they saw Conrad, their posture shifting into full attention.
He did not slow as he approached.
“Status,” he instructed.
“Secured,” one of them answered immediately. “No movement in or out.”
Conrad gave a short nod before stepping forward.
“Open it,” he ordered.
The guard moved quickly, unlocking the entrance and stepping aside as the barrier was pulled back. I followed Conrad inside without hesitation, my focus already on what I would find.
The space was enclosed, structured for protection rather than comfort, but it was not cramped. Zane and Kyra were there, seated close together, both of them looking up the moment we entered.
Kyra stood first.
“You came,” she said, her voice carrying a mix of relief and something else I could not fully place.
“I told you I would,” I replied as I stepped closer.
Zane pushed himself up next, his posture stronger than before but still not fully recovered. His eyes moved briefly to Conrad before returning to me.
“We’re fine,” he said, though his tone carried restraint.
I studied both of them carefully, checking their condition without rushing. Their movements were steadier now, their breathing more even, but the change from before was still there.
It had not faded.
“You’re stable,” I said.
“For now,” Zane answered.

Kyra moved closer to me again, her presence quiet but firm as she stayed within reach. I did not step away from her this
time.
Conrad remained a few steps behind, his attention on all three of us without interrupting. When he spoke, his voice was calm, but it carried clear authority.
“This location is restricted,” he said. “No one enters without clearance.”
The guards at the entrance straightened further at his words.

Full rotation. he continued. “No gaps.”
“Yes, Alpha King,” one of them responded.
Zane’s expression shifted slightly at the title, his gaze moving toward Conrad with a new level of understanding. Kyra noticed it too, her eyes lingering for a second longer than before.
Conrad did not react to it.
I turned slightly toward him.
“They stay here?” I asked.
“For now,” he replied. “Until we confirm no breach.”
I nodded, accepting that.
Kyra’s hand moved lightly against my arm again.
“You’re not staying?” she asked.
I hesitated for a moment before answering.
“I can’t,” I replied. “Not yet.”
Her shoulders dropped slightly, but she did not argue.
“You’ll come back,” she said.
“I will,” I assured her.
Zane watched the exchange quietly before speaking again.
“We’ll manage,” he said.
I met his gaze, seeing the effort he was putting into holding himself together.
“You don’t have to manage anything,” I replied. “You stay here and recover.”
He gave a short nod, accepting that without pushing further.
Conrad stepped closer then, his presence settling into the space in a way that made everything feel more structured. His attention moved briefly between the twins before returning to me.
“They’ll be guarded,” he said.
“I know,” I answered.
“They won’t be touched,” he added.
There was no hesitation in his voice, and I believed him.
“That’s what matters,” I replied.
The moment stretched slightly, quiet but not uncomfortable, before I stepped back.

Come again, told the twins.
Kyra nodded immediately.
“We’ll be here,” she said.
Zane did not speak, but his expression said enough.
I turned then, moving toward the exit with Conrad beside me. As we stepped out, the barrier was secured again behind us, the guards returning to position without delay.
We walked back in silence at first, the distance between the safe house and the inner grounds passing steadily. I could feel his presence beside me again.
“You trust it?” he asked after a moment.
“Yes,” I replied.
“Without doubt?” he continued.
