No wonder people lost themselves in lust.

Even the most high-tech toys couldn't compare to the real thing.

"Zane, I tried it. Can you throw it out now?"

Zane washed his hands, pulled back the covers, and slipped back into bed beside her.

"Did you really hate it that much?" he asked.

"Yes, I hated it."

"It seemed like you were enjoying it a lot just a minute ago." Zane pulled her flush against his chest. "Don't be so embarrassed. Spicing things up with a few toys is completely normal."

Elara pinched his side. "I was just pretending so you'd feel better."

Zane let out a deep, rumbling laugh. "I appreciate the effort. As long as you had fun, that's all that matters."

"I didn't have fun. Throw it in the trash."

"You really didn't like it?"

"No. It wasn't as big as you, and it wasn't as effective."

Zane shot her a sideways glance. Why did that sound like a backhanded compliment?

It definitely didn't feel like high praise.

Because of his own insecurities about his stamina, Zane was terrified Elara would complain. So the next morning, he didn't try to pull her back into bed or ruin her makeup. He behaved perfectly, driving her straight to the office.

Riddled with guilt over his performance, he didn't dare invite her back to The Sovereign for the next two days.

But then, Elara actually initiated plans with him.

Zane felt incredibly flattered, but also a spike of performance anxiety. He figured he'd better take a pill this time instead of messing around with those ridiculous toys.

She clearly hadn't been impressed by them anyway.

"I'll pick you up from the office tonight," Zane offered.

"No need. I have a business dinner. I'll head straight to your place afterward."

Zane desperately wanted to interrogate her. Who was the dinner with? Where were they going? Who else would be there?

But terrified Elara would think he was being too clingy, he swallowed his questions and kept his mouth shut.

"Alright. I'll be waiting at home."

The second Elara ended the call, Julian pushed open her office door, his face like a thundercloud.
