Rafferty lifted her fingers and kissed them softly, “my family is not as intense as yours. The first day they were freaking out because we found our mates and we found the missing Frost princess and finally stopped a cold war. However, they are not typically so in your face. River isn’t one to back down from a fight and she’s been raised to be queen but she’s also the kindest, sweetest individual I’ve ever known. She is benevolent like my mother and strong like my father. She is the best of both.”

Rafferty nodded, “he’s not wrong. Fuck Jacinta. We’ll give you a family, Jacqueline, and you won’t need the Frost one. As we both said before, we feel very badly for Winika. She’s hurting

and you could be the one person to cure her broken heart but,” he played with her fingers in his hand, “you come first

for us. If it doesn’t work out or if it becomes too unbearable, then we have no problem bringing in an entire army if necessary to keep our mate safe and happy.”

“Do you promise?” she asked with a worried expression. “I am already very unsure of them and if they keep it up, I’m not going to want to be around them. If you can’t support me when I’m asking for space from them, I don’t know how we can be together.”

“Well, after the fiasco of today and learning they chased you down the damn hill, Wilder and I will take turns accompanying you. We will be your bodyguards. Deal?”

“Now, back to our experiment.” Wilder leaned across the table. “Look at the table that just came in and got seated

opposite us. Four guys who clearly just came down off the ski

hill. All four of them looking in your direction and they aren’t being shy about it. I bet if you went to the ladies room, at least one of them tries to catch you up on the way back.”

Wilder reached into his pocket and pulled out his billfold. “I know how much you like money.” He put a hundred–dollar bill

on the table. “If I’m wrong, that’s yours.” He had a glint in his

eye, “how bad do you need to pee now.”
