“Wait. Are you telling me that nobody else knew?” Jacqueline was gasping for breath as she leaned forward.
“When you went missing, in seconds, Winika was screaming for her baby Jacqueline, so we all knew your name but,” Fawn
cleared her throat, “until that moment only the Northern
royal family knew your full name, Jacqueline.”
“I didn’t know this,” she whispered as she locked her fingers together. “Holy shit, this is huge.”
“Rafferty and I noticed it this morning after you and River went to the ski hill. We were sitting there going through your old records trying to find any kind of clue so that we could formulate a plan to get her to confess or admit she was somehow involved. We were going to bring it up to you later when we were alone, but Jack is sitting here and saying he believes you, I’m telling you now.”
“This is crazy.” Jacqueline stared at the people around 11:07

“Nobody else knew. If nobody else knew my name and I was taken before Winika revealed it to anyone else, it had to be either her or you Jack.”
“It wasn’t me!” Jack snapped at her.
“I didn’t think it was!” she snapped back. “I’ve been saying all along I think it’s her because she stabbed me with her fucking talons in seconds of meeting and has been an asshole ever since.”
“She will have an excuse,” Jack was barely breathing as he got up on his feet and began pacing. “She’ll have an excuse
for sure.”
“How can she excuse it?”
“What if she says she went into the room and said the baby’s name in front of the nurse and the assailant who was supposedly hiding in the room unknown?” Jack ran his fingers through his hair. “Fuck!” He looked at Jacqueline, “she really fucking did it.”
“It sounds like it.” Rafferty said quietly. “I’m sorry Jack because I know you wanted to believe your sister would never do such a thing but her behavior since Jacqueline was 2/6

returned, the fact it was near the park we played as kids and the name being pinned to her blanket, well, it’s all pointing in
her direction.”
“It makes no sense,” he leaned over and put his hands on his knees as if in shock. “Why?”
“We don’t know but more importantly, we need to make sure
Jacqueline is safe from future attempts. If we confront her
without concrete evidence and we can’t prove she’s done
what we believe she’s done, she may do something to hurt Jacqueline.”
“Why put her name there at all?” Hugh asked suddenly. “Why not simply dump her and not give her a name at all? Let the hospital staff sort out her name?”
“There’s a question I’d like to ask her.” Jack was furious.
“You can’t Jack and Winika.” Jacqueline said suddenly.
“What?”
“Look. I had breakfast with them this morning. We have no proof. No tangible evidence. This is all circumstantial. They aren’t open to this conversation at all. It’s going to require us 3/6

having the proof before they accept it. Jack will protect her and if he protects her, it’s going to make her braver than she already is. She’s going to do something to get rid of me.”
“Are you serious? You really believe she’d hurt you?”
“Yes, Jack. She dug her nails into my back with you and your parents right there in the room and made me bleed. She played the victim like she was aiming for and it made you all pissed off at me. She wants me gone and if she isn’t going to get it by simply manipulating you all, she’s going to try to do something far more sinister. I feel it in my bones.”
He sat back down and looked at her intently, “Dad said you created flowers out of nothing today.”
“Yeah.”
“Snowbells.” Jack commented.
The group all turned to look at her in amazement. Wilder leaned away from her, “you made snowbells?”
“For Winika. She was sad. I made her flowers. She smiled and started listening to them. She swore she could hear me all my life through the flowers. She wasn’t listening to me in 4/6

front of her. Perhaps the flowers will sort her out.”
“That’s remarkable.” Fawn said in awe. “We do really need to bring in the high priestess to talk with you.”
“What do they do?” Jacqueline asked seriously. “What is the point of these priestesses you talk about?”
Rafferty took a breath and then said, “well, there are levels
of priestesses. They all work with the goal of honoring our
creator, the original queen. The stronger the powers, the
closer the priestess is to communicating with our creator.
They can receive messages through prayer and the use of their powers. The more blessed the fae, the better the link to
the creator.”
“The high priestesses, the strongest of the strong, are able to assess other fae, find their powers, help sort out powers and bring them forth.” Wilder added.
“Jacinta lost her powers. What was the reason for this?” Jacqueline asked Jack.
“Nobody knows. Powers are incredibly personal. She spoke with the priestess, and the priestess gave her an opinion during a private assessment and Jacinta never wanted to talk 5/6

about it.”

“She’s being punished,” Jacqueline said matter–of–factly
unsure of why she was so certain, but she was. “She did
something horrible and lost her powers as a result. She wants me gone because now that I’m back, her loss of powers were for naught. She’s no longer going to appeal to the twins to choose her as a mate. She’s no longer going
to be able to play the pity card. No sister. No power. Family who now doubt her. She’s going to spiral. I need to talk to the priestesses myself.”
Fawn looked at her incredulously. “Jacqueline, are you
angry?”
“No. I am not. Why do you ask?”
“Because as you were talking just now, your hair has grown
three more long tresses of blue.”
