TESSA POV
It took a week for all the warriors to arrive in the city and we arranged where and when to meet them in the woods outside the city.
We all got prepared at the mansion and tensions were high. You could practically cut it with a knife. No one knew what was going to happen or who was going to come home. And the worry that I felt coming off of Tyler was palpable. I couldn’t figure his emotions out at all. Or these glances that I saw him constantly exchanging with Aria. And the secret little mind links that them two had going on.
I left my engagement ring in the nightstand at the mansion because it would break when I shifted and I didn’t want anything to happen to it. And Tyler and I headed downstairs to meet up with the others and again, we left in small groups carrying backpacks headed to the woods outside of town.
By the time everyone had arrived it was just after sundown. So Angelo and my aunt’s and uncle’s had caught up to us.
All of us wolves needed to take our clothes off and we all put them in backpacks and then shifted into our wolves. We picked the bags up in our mouths and we started running through the woods.
Vampires were damn fast at running, that was a common fact of vampires. But werewolves were just as fast. The trees flashing by us like we were in a high speeding car. So it only took half an hour to get to the town of Phoenix.
We had the entire town surrounded and I needed to shift back and I got dressed again. I was with Tyler, Tobias and two other warriors from our pack. They needed to be from our pack so that we could all mind link with each other.
"Just remember everyone. Don’t let them bite you. Otherwise you will become hybrids as well. If they bite you and don’t kill you then you will be turned into a vampire too." Angelo warned everyone before we fully split up.
We couldn’t mind link with Ethan’s pack so that’s why we prepared so much to make sure that everyone knew where everyone else was. And once we were in position we were actually able to see how many people were walking around the town.
This place was crawling with vampires and my group positioned ourselves behind the only house in the town where the witches were living.
I could see through the window and they didn’t look too young until I saw the Shadow witch and they all got along really well. Those witches weren’t here against their will. They were here because they wanted to be here. They were just as guilty. So that answered one of the questions I had about them. No one will get out of here alive. Not them anymore.
I snuck up towards the back door and I tried the door handle but it was locked so I grabbed some tools out of my backpack and I picked the lock and I opened the door.
I walked inside the house quietly which wasn’t easy. It was a rickety old thing with a lot of loose floor boards that would creak under my feet and I had three giant wolves following me. They weren’t letting me out of their site for a moment. So they weren’t letting me go into the house alone.
Tyler was getting nervous and walked right beside me and nudged my hand on top of his head so that I was constantly touching him and I could tell that it was making him feel better.
I looked out the window and I saw the wolves and our vampires were slowly approaching the town. But something seemed off. How could all these vampires with advanced hearing not know that we were here already. They would have heard us by now. We should already be fighting.
’Something isn’t right.’ I mind link my pack.
’What do you mean?’ Tyler asks.
’There’s no way these vampires don’t know that we’re not here already. It’s a trap.’ I conclude.
’What should we do?’ Parker asked.
’We’re not turning back. They think that we’re sneaking up on them. Attack now.’ I ordered.
So Parker let out the roar which was the order and our army charged straight into the town. And I was right. The vampires were waiting. But they weren’t expecting us to come charging in the way that we did, so they scrambled to get to their posts and some luckily didn’t make it that far before they were met with a wall of werewolves and torn apart.
I then appeared in the kitchen doorway and the Shadow witch turned around to look at me and the other two witches stood beside her.
"Geez mom. I thought you said that she was powerful. She doesn’t look scary at all." One of the girls says. Okay, so these girls were her daughters. I guess that makes sense. Except for the fact that I didn’t know what man would ever go near the Shadow witch. Especially not with the burns to the side of her face and her arms and legs. I guess that was my fault.
"Nice look. The burnt look doesn’t really suit you though." I say. And she hissed at me when I said that.
One of her daughters charged at me and I flicked my hand to the side and she flew across the room and through the wall into the next room.
"Been practicing I see." Annabelle says.
"Well, I got the better of you last time I saw you. Didn’t I?" I asked.
"That was my own ignorance. I won’t be that stupid this time." She insisted.
