Chapter 42: Chapter 41

ETHAN POV

The battle was getting bloody. These leeches were waiting for us. So they were prepared. Several wolves were down because of wolfsbane darts and we needed to protect them before the vampires could get to them. We couldn’t have the vampires feeding on them or even just biting them and turning them into hybrids. None of them wanted that.

One tried to attack me from the side but i swung around and grabbed that vampires in my mouth and shook so fiercely that I ripped him to pieces. One of the caravans exploded in the background and I looked over to see Bella was being surrounded.

I ran to her but one vampire got in the way of me and I couldn’t get around him. He lunged at me and I tried to get my mouth around him but he held my top and bottom jaw. He was trying to pull them apart and break my jaw. And he was strong. He was getting my jaw further and further apart while I was fighting against him. I shook my head trying to shake him off when he suddenly jumped on my back but kept his grip on my jaw.

I was trying so hard to stop him breaking my jaw when I heard a roar and then Kaylee jumped over the top of me taking that vampire with her in her mouth and bit him in half. She nodded at me and then took off to the next vampire.

I ran to Bella and I grabbed the vampire that was right in front of her and I threw him away and he crashed in to the side of a caravan with such force that it left a huge dint in the side of the caravan and almost knocked the caravan over. Bella then lunged at one of them and I went for the other one, both ripping them to pieces.

There had been no sign of Josiah and that’s who we were looking for. Angelo hadn’t been seen in the fight and I imagine that he was looking for Josiah. That was fine with me. We needed to get these vampires under control. They were outnumbered but they were still doing their best to stand their ground.

If they weren’t prepared for us then I’m sure that they would all be dead by now. But I saw Ruby grabbing the unconscious wolves back to the woods just past the town. She was getting them to safety. Away from the war and the vampires that might be tempted to try and attack them. I was so grateful to her for that. She was protecting my people when she really didn’t need to.

Then I was snapped out of the battle briefly when I heard an ear-piercing scream come from the house and I could see a white light coming from the house. I knew that the scream belonged to Tessa and my first instinct was to run to her. But I couldn’t do that. Another vampire rammed me from the side and tackled me to the ground.

I quickly got back to my feet and we were faced with each other. She was in a crouched position with her fangs showing and I crouched baring my teeth as well.

She attacked me and I snapped at her trying to get her in my jaws but that didn’t work. She dodged my attack at the last second. She was fast, and better trained than the others. She was definitely one of Josiah’s top fighters.

I turned quickly to face her again, not leaving my back turned to her for too long and then she ran at me again and I dodged her attack but as she tried to jump over my body I reached up and grabbed her leg in my mouth and yanked her to the ground and she landed with a thud.

She managed to get up again but it was obvious that she was having trouble standing on her leg so I charged at her but she dodged it again and this time when she ran to the left side of me I was ready for it and I managed to get her around the torso and she let out a screech when she realized that I had a hold of her.

She looked at me with still nothing but defiance in her eyes and I bit down hard with one bite and snapped her in half and she was dead. So I spat her out and I noticed that a few vampires looked at me and I knew that they didn’t think it was possible for her to die. She was a good fighter.

’Alpha. A couple of them are retreating.’ Tobias says through the link.

’Go after them. No one leaves here alive. Their not coming for Tessa later. Everyone dies.’ I announce to everyone of my pack members through the link.

So Tobias took off into the woods to go after the vampires that were retreating. And I ran to Wyatt who was taking on two vampires at a time.

Their numbers were dwindling. They were dropping drastically. There weren’t too many left. But I grabbed the vampire off of Wyatt’s back and threw him away and stalked up to where he had landed.

He started trying to back away from me when I pounced on him and I started ripping him apart.

’Alpha. We did it. That’s it.’ One of my warriors announced.

’Tobias. Where are you?’ I asked.

’Heading back now. Those two in the woods are taken care of.’ Tobias says.

’The vampires are dead. All of them. We got them all.’ A warrior says and there were howls coming from all the wolves around.

’Not all of them. Josiah.’ I say. I look around and I noticed that I didn’t see Angelo or any of his siblings. Where the hell did they go? They wouldn’t have left us to fight this battle alone.

ANGELO POV

As the war between vampires and wolves raged around me I noticed the last building in the entire town that was still standing apart from his house. It was the church. I knew that’s exactly where Josiah was.

I headed for the church and I noticed that Elias, Charles, Finn and Naomi were following me. I guess we all had things that we needed to say.

"I knew you’d find me in here." Josiah says.

"It seemed pretty obvious when I thought about it." I say.

"Of course. Afterall, I was praying in a church when you turned me into a vampire. What could be a better setting." Josiah says standing up and turning around.

"What the hell happened to you?" Elias asked.
