The Shadow of a Luna (Tessa and Tyler) novel Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Chapter 46

TYLER POV

After a few hours of sleep that day I got up and headed to the kitchen to get something to eat. We had another meeting with Ryan and his head warrior. We were going over tactics and I promised them again that I wasn’t leaving until we were sure that the Rogue attacks were over. But I didn’t know exactly how long I would be able to stay.

Tessa sounded weird on the phone this morning. Almost desperate. And she never sounds like that. But she accepted my alternative to have guards posted around the packhouse. That did sound like her. She would always accept an alternative instead of demanding that I come home and drop my responsibilities to someone else. She wasn’t like that.

It was playing on my mind all afternoon so I gave her another quick call before I went back out on patrol. She assured me that she got some rest during the day. But it was easier because everyone was awake and since I had called Carter, he made sure that there was always someone checking in on her. I know that Bella and Aria probably would have climbed into bed with her to watch TV while she slept.

I loved having Bella there as Cade’s mate. Tessa’s best friend who knows her better than anyone else and knows exactly how to calm her down when I’m not there. They are so suited for each other that if I wasn’t mated to Tessa, I’m pretty sure Bella would be. Alright, I need to stop thinking like that before I get too excited.

After I got off the phone with Tessa I felt more at ease because she sounded more calm and relaxed and then I was able to shift and head out on patrol.

It wasn’t until about midnight that we got the howling call of the attack on the northern boarder. We ran there with everything that we had and two warriors were holding one Rogue. But he was in human form. And I needed to shift in order to communicate with them and the was just grinning like a stupid lunatic.

"What is this?" I asked.

"He was alone. Apparently, he has a message for you." The warrior said. And they handed me another photo. I looked at it, but this time it was a photo of Tessa taken sitting outside the packhouse reading a book with her hand on her stomach. She was alone outside the packhouse.

"There’s a note on the back." The other warrior says so I turn it over.

Poor dumb werewolves. So predictable. You run to help others in need and you leave behind the ones that really need your help. You took the person I loved and now I took the person you love. So sorry.

"Tessa." I said almost in a panic. I shifted immediately and I ran with all my Alpha might straight back to my territory. I could feel Cade and Parker following closely behind but they couldn’t keep up.

When I reached my pack in record time I shifted back and ran past a tree and grabbed some short out of it and put them on as I was still running to the house. There was commotion everywhere and I ran around the side of the house to see Carter, Bella and Aria standing there.

Bella was crying and Carter was yelling at the guards and patrols that were on duty tonight. But everyone stopped when they saw me standing there breathing heavily and my body so tense that one wrong word would make me kill someone. Carter took a deep breath and swallowed hard before he took a couple of steps towards me.

"She’s gone." Carter says plainly and very scared.

"How the fuck does a group of Rogues get in here without you knowing?" I screamed at them.

"They weren’t Rogues. They were vampires." Carter says and I growl. My Alpha aura spewing from me in waves and everyone dropped to their knees in pain before I realized that I was even doing it. But when I did realize that I was doing it, I didn’t care. They were meant to be protecting her and they didn’t.

"Carter. Stand." I demand. So he slowly and painfully stood up and bared his neck to me.

"How the fuck did they take her?" I growled as calmly as I possibly could, which wasn’t very calm at all.

"We don’t know how they got threw. They found a break in our defenses or something. They are vampires. They move faster than a bullet and they don’t leave a scent. They barely make a sound. And there was more than one." Carter gritted out in pain.

"Security footage. Pull it up now. Every frame you have of these vampires. I want to see who they are." I demand before I stomp inside and I walk into my office and I slam the door so hard that the solid oak cracked down the middle.

I grabbed the phone and dialed a number immediately.

"Hello." A man answered.

"Angelo. Vampires just kidnapped Tessa. It has something to do with Josiah." I say.

"We’re on our way." Angelo say and he hung up.

TESSA POV

Going to bed that night was the same as the night before. I was restless. I knew that something bad was coming. I knew that something bad was going to happen. But I rolled over and tried to close my eyes and tell myself that it was probably just pregnancy anxiety. I didn’t know what else to make of it. But then I heard a whooshing sound behind me.
