Chapter 102
Prompted by the remark, everyone’s gaze drifted toward Vivian’s legs. Only then did they notice a slight discrepancy in her stance.
“Oh, right… Isn’t that the Fairchild family’s eldest daughter? I heard she injured her leg in a car crash years ago. It never healed, and it never will.”
“What a shame. Such a gorgeous face, totally wasted.”
Low murmurs rippled through the crowd, making Director Davis squirm with awkwardness.
“Miss Fairchild… these people just love to gossip. Please don’t let it get to you.”
“I don’t mind. They’re telling the truth.”
Vivian offered a faint smile, her eyes shifting toward the woman who had started it all.
A… cellist turned starlet, and Amara’s best friend?
Hah.
Amara sure knew how to train her lapdogs. They barked for her everywhere they went.
Eager to diffuse the tension, Director Davis introduced Vivian to a few more celebrities. Through the casual chatter, she learned an interesting detail-Silas was the biggest investor in this variety show.
“Rumor has it…”
The director lowered his voice as he brought it up.
He cast a cautious glance around the room. “Mr. Sterling had no intention of backing us at first. He only threw all that money at the project because Grace Gifford signed on.”
“Oh?” Vivian murmured. “Miss Gifford has that much pull? I didn’t see her last time.”
“She treats herself like an A-list queen. You don’t just get to see her.”
A young pop star chimed in while nibbling on an appetizer. “She wouldn’t even film the promos with us. She’s not a regular guest; she’s just dropping in for a cameo.”
Vivian nodded in understanding.
Grace must have sensed they were talking about her.
Just then, a commotion rippled through the room. Grace glided toward the center,
surrounded by a sycophantic entourage. She wore an approachable smile, but her eyes held the distinct arrogance of a spoiled heiress.
Everyone flocked over to greet her. Vivian, entirely uninterested, grabbed a glass of champagne and sat by herself.

Chapter 102
The leading lady had made her entrance. Where was the leading man?
She scanned the room but couldn’t spot Silas anywhere.
Oh… right.
Maybe they had arrived together?
Vivian felt like she had already guessed the end of the movie. Her interest instantly evaporated.
By eight o’clock, the celebration officially kicked off.
The director made his generic speeches, and everyone raised their glasses for a toast.
It was a painfully dull affair. Vivian began to regret showing up.
She was just about to slip out early when Grace scurried past her. Acting on instinct, Vivian tilted her head and caught sight of a man standing just outside the banquet hall.
Grace hurried over to him, reaching out as if to grab his hand, but he smoothly stepped away.
“Silas…”
