The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Silas narrowed his eyes. The shifting light from the banquet hall cast long shadows over him, masking his true expression and making it impossible to read his mood.

He reached up to adjust his collar, his voice low and commanding. “Escort Grace home.”

Vivian was still wondering who he was talking to when Simon Young suddenly appeared out of nowhere. “Right this way, Miss Gifford.”

All the color drained from Grace’s face, her eyes rapidly filling with tears.

They hovered on her lashes, trembling and heart-wrenching.

But the man made no move to ask her to stay. Of course-if she didn’t say anything, he would never ‘see’ her suffering.

People inside had already noticed the drama and were craning their necks to get a better look.

Unable to endure the humiliation a second longer, Grace turned and fled.

With two people gone, the air felt a lot less suffocating.

Acting completely oblivious to the tension, Vivian crossed her pale arms beneath her chest, deliberately accentuating her curves. “Mr. Sterling, didn’t I just save you from a massive headache?”

Silas didn’t say a word. His unfocused gaze somehow locked perfectly onto the woman standing in front of him.

He took two menacing steps forward, his oppressive aura suffocating the space between them.

His sudden proximity and overwhelming masculine scent flooded Vivian’s senses, making her mind go blank for a split second.

The next moment, a sharp pain shot through her jaw.

He gripped her chin tightly, his razor-sharp features mere inches from hers.

“You slip into character very quickly. But don’t you think you’re overstepping by casually dictating what I, and the people around me, do? Hm?”

He had stayed quiet earlier just to see exactly how brazen this woman could be.

She had genuinely surprised him.

Pinned by his grip, Vivian couldn’t speak. She could only glare up at him with wide, furious eyes.

Chapter 104

What an absolute jerk!

“Vivian, I don’t care if you use your title as my wife to pull a few strings. But you will absolutely not aim your arrogance at the people in my life. Understand?”

With that, he let go.

Vivian stared at his face and let out a cold laugh.

“So by that logic, I can have a bunch of exes trailing after me too?”

Silas had been about to walk away, but he stopped in his tracks, turning back in disbelief. “What?”

“According to you, this is just a marriage of convenience. If you can let other women hold your hand and cling to you, then naturally, I can do the same. Unless… you think your reputation matters and mine doesn’t?”

She kept her tone remarkably calm. “I believe in equality. That old-school nonsense where the man plays the field while the woman waits patiently at home? That doesn’t fly with me.”

“So, I don’t care who shows up around you. Whether they’re throwing themselves at you or you’ve taken a liking to them-if one comes, I’ll destroy one. If a pair comes, I’ll destroy them

both.”

“If you don’t like it, we can end this marriage right now.”

That last sentence was dangerously close to a threat.

She was gambling on the fact that this man needed their marriage to pacify his grandfather, and… that he saw some real value in keeping her around.
