Chapter 106
When that day came, she was absolutely going to milk it for all it was worth!
After dropping Vivian off at The Southwood Estate, Scarlett sped away into the night.
She had only offered the ride as an excuse to fish for gossip.
Vivian easily navigated the familiar path inside. The entire villa was pitch black, lacking even a single nightlight.
Then again, Silas was already accustomed to the dark. His world hadn’t seen the light in a very long time.
Returning to her room, she took a shower and, in a rare move, spritzed on some perfume.
Grabbing her pillow, she marched straight to the master bedroom.
Three sharp knocks yielded no response.
Vivian twisted the handle. Finding it unlocked, she pushed the door open.
The man sat in bed, an open laptop resting in front of him. A small light blinked on his Bluetooth earpiece. He was working.
He appeared to be leading an international conference call, his flawless British accent rolling smoothly from his lips. His voice was deep, magnetic, and exuded an unparalleled charm.
Vivian stood at a polite distance, simply admiring the view.
When the meeting finally wrapped up, she let out a soft cough.
“Um… are you finished?”
Silas looked perfectly indifferent-he neither turned toward her nor seemed angry.
“I wanted to apologize.” Vivian softened her voice, speaking in a sweet, gentle tone. “I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that in front of your ex today. It was my fault. Please don’t
be mad.”
The man finally showed a flicker of reaction, turning his head in her direction.
“Do you honestly think you’re worth my anger?”
It was a polite way of putting it.
What he really meant was that Vivian wasn’t nearly important enough for him to waste his emotional energy on.
Vivian padded over to the edge of the bed, trailing her unique scent behind her. It wasn’t the overpowering, synthetic stench most women wore; it was subtle, elegant, and almost intoxicatingly soothing.
“I know you’re a bigger man than that, Mr. Sterling. You wouldn’t hold a grudge.”
She kneeled one leg onto the mattress, her knee lightly brushing against the rock-hard

muscle of his thigh.
“So… can I sleep in here with you tonight? My bed is way too hard. I haven’t been sleeping well at all.”
A vein throbbed at Silas’s temple, a mocking smirk tugging at his lips. “Do you want to sleep in my bed, or do you want to sleep with me?”
“Both. Is that an option?”
Silas squeezed his eyes shut, his patience entirely depleted.
“Vivian, don’t force me to throw you out.”
As he shifted abruptly, Vivian was knocked off balance, her body pitching forward uncontrollably. She threw her hands out on instinct, planting them squarely on either side of his hips.
The position…
It looked remarkably like she was straddling him.
Staring down at his flawlessly sculpted face, she threw caution to the wind and leaned in to kiss him. Her hands slid down to loop around his neck, pulling him forcefully toward her.
Now they were practically sitting face-to-face, with Vivian’s legs comfortably bracketed
