The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156

Chapter 156

“Right now, his younger brother, Zack Granger, is running things. Heh… that guy.”

Speaking of Zack, Logan let out a merciless scoff.

“Nothing but a playboy.”

“Oh?” Silas lifted his eyelids lazily. “A playboy running a massive corporate empire?”

“He relies entirely on his older brother,” Logan said, taking a sip of tea. He was well-versed in the local corporate gossip.

“The old chairman stepped down to force Jonah’s hand, but Jonah refused to budge. So the little brother lucked out. Still, they can’t just let the company rot, so Jonah is basically pulling the strings from behind the scenes.”

Hearing this, Silas’s fingers stopped tapping.

His smooth voice carried no inflection.

“Let me know when you’re free to sign the contract at my office.”

“You…”

Logan thought Silas was going to refuse again. He caught himself mid-sentence, his face lighting up. “You’re actually agreeing to sign?!”

Silas frowned slightly, looking mildly annoyed. He stood up. “I’m leaving.”

“Great, great! Drive safe! Let’s get together again soon!”

Logan watched the man walk away, rubbing his chin with immense interest.

Was the young master of the Sterling Family picking a fight with the Grangers?

Why else the sudden change of heart?

Regardless, it was exactly what Logan wanted.

Logan rubbed his hands together and glanced at his assistant. “Come on, let’s head home.”

In the car, the man in the backseat stared out the window. The neon city lights reflected against the glass, making his dark pupils look endlessly deep and enigmatic.

Simon checked the rearview mirror, unable to hold back his curiosity. “Boss, are we really partnering with the Lawsons?”

He had distinctly sensed that Silas had absolutely no interest in the project.

Had a few words really changed his mind?

Silas didn’t answer right away. After a moment, his deep voice filled the car. “Look into

Vivian.”

“Huh?”

Investigate his own wife?

Simon blinked in confusion. “Isn’t she just the eldest daughter of the Fairchild family?”

“Dominic Fairchild sent her abroad when she was a teenager. No one knows what happened to her over there.”

“Boss, are you saying…”

Simon’s lips twitched. “Ms. Fairchild has a complicated past?”

Silas shot him an icy glare. “I told you to investigate. Cut the chatter.”

“… Yes, sir.”

The car pulled into the South Estate. It was nine o’clock, and residents were strolling the neighborhood in casual clothes, walking their dogs.

Just as they pulled into the driveway, Simon’s phone buzzed.

“Boss, I found the guy who had dinner with Ms. Fairchild.”

He killed the engine and handed the phone to the backseat.
