The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

Vivian felt a deafening explosion ring in her ears. Deep inside her chest, something quietly collapsed.

She pulled the phone slightly away from her ear, slowly exhaling the heavy breath trapped in her lungs.

The crushing weight of the revelation felt like a suffocating storm cloud pressing down on her skull.

It wasn’t heavy, but she couldn’t breathe.

After a long moment, she put the phone back to her ear. Her voice was hoarse and terrifyingly calm, completely devoid of emotion. “Keep talking.”

Despite her worry, Zoe didn’t hold anything back. She relayed every single piece of information she had extracted from Harvey.

The call ended.

Vivian stood rooted to the spot for what felt like an eternity, as if her soul had been completely hollowed out.

The second she looked up, a bone-chilling, murderous aura flashed in her eyes. She turned and strode aggressively toward Amara.

“Wh-What are you doing?”

31

Amara sensed the violent shift in the room. Just as she tried to make a run for it, a hand tangled into her hair and violently yanked her backward.

“Where are you going? Didn’t you say you wanted to take me home? Let’s put a pin in that for a second. Why don’t we go pay your precious Dr. Granger a visit first? Hmm?”

Vivian kept an iron grip on her hair, dragging her straight toward the office door.

“You psycho! Let go of me!”

Amara felt like her scalp was about to be ripped entirely off her skull. All she could do was stumble along, trying to keep pace with Vivian to lessen the excruciating tension.

She thrashed wildly, desperately trying to break free, but it was no use. The woman’s slender hand was clamped onto her hair like a steel vice.

She swore she could hear strands of her own hair snapping under the sheer force.

“Vivian!!”

Chapter 190

Amara’s hysterical shrieks drew the attention of everyone in the office. The staff instinctively snapped their heads up, only to immediately shrink back down to their desks when they met their boss’s homicidal glare.

They had been working here for a while, but no one had ever seen President Fairchild this violent before. Though, to be fair…

It was undeniably badass!

After making that mental note, everyone collectively decided to pretend nothing was happening and glued their eyes back to their screens.

Their utter indifference only fueled Amara’s rage. Dragged into the elevator, she lunged toward the emergency alarm panel, but Vivian instantly seized her wrist, anticipating the

move.

Vivian finally released her grip on her hair.

“Vivian…”

Amara’s voice trembled. Before she could spew another curse, Vivian effortlessly twisted her arm, pinning her down and immobilizing her completely.

“How dare you treat me like this… Jonah won’t let you get away with this! I’ll make him destroy you!”

“Destroy me? Try me, bitch. I’ll bury you first.”

The woman’s voice sounded like it had been dredged from the bottom of a frozen lake-raspy, cold, and utterly terrifying. “Save your energy. You’ll need it to scream later.”

Amara stared at her as if she were looking at a demon.

She was insane… This woman had completely lost her mind!

What kind of phone call did she just get to make her snap like this?

Too terrified to provoke her any further, Amara resorted to shooting her a fearful, venomous glare in silent protest.

In just those few short minutes, a cold sweat had broken out across Amara’s face.

“Where the hell are you taking me?!”

“Didn’t I just tell you?”

Vivian’s face was completely devoid of emotion as she cast a chilling, sideways glance at her. “To see your precious Jonah.”

Amara’s instincts told her that was a lie. If they were really going to see Jonah, Vivian would never dare treat her like this… Jonah was practically royalty in Northside. Was she really not afraid of making an enemy of the Granger family?
