Chapter 193
Wealthy, powerful men were all so inherently self-centered. They fully expected everyone around them to be governed by their every whim and mood.
Vivian bent down and hoisted the heavy fire extinguisher off the floor.
She walked back and planted herself right in front of them.
When she spoke, her hoarse voice was completely devoid of inflection.
“Tell me… just because I yelled at Amara, you hired someone to run me over. I could almost accept that, but why didn’t you just finish the job and kill me?”
Her eyes were bloodshot, burning with an unshed, suffocating intensity.
In that moment, Vivian looked like a rose soaked in blood-breathtaking, scorching, and incredibly dangerous.
Her gaze locked onto his, the words tearing out of her throat. “Since you failed to kill me, you should have known this day would come. I have never been one to swallow my pride. Even if it took me ten or twenty years, I swore I would make everyone who wronged me pay!”
“So, who wants to go first?”
“…”
For a full minute, even Amara didn’t dare breathe a word.
Her brain struggled to piece together the chaotic timeline.
So… Vivian’s shattered leg was Jonah’s doing?
And it was all because of her?
She racked her brain until a distant memory finally surfaced. Shortly after Vivian had returned from abroad, they had gotten into a vicious fight. Unwilling to back down but terrified of ruining her sweet image in front of their father, Amara had run off to a park to hide and cry.
How had Jonah known about that?
They hadn’t even officially met back then.
Amara looked up at the handsome face beside her, a million questions swirling in her mind.
But Jonah’s entire focus was anchored on the woman standing in front of him. He looked agonizingly conflicted. He had lived a life of absolute privilege and had never truly regretted a single action in his life. Except for that one.
Finally.
His voice broke, raw and gravelly. “I’m sorry.”

Chapter 193
“Vivian, I am so sorry… I was wrong.”
Amara snapped her head up in utter disbelief, shocked that Jonah was actually apologizing to Vivian.
The hand he had gripping her shoulder subconsciously tightened, nearly crushing her bones “Jonah…”
Tears streamed down her face. “You’re hurting me.”
Jonah abruptly let her go. His dark, turbulent gaze remained fixated on Vivian as he took a step forward, his tall frame radiating a rare, palpable sense of helpless panic.
Vivian stared back at him in dead silence, her eyes as calm as stagnant water.
When had the mighty Jonah Granger ever looked like this?
With his head bowed, he looked exactly like a child caught in a lie.
“Vivian, it was a moment of absolute impulse, I…”
“I never meant for you to get hurt that badly. The driver lost control.”
Jonah raised a hand as if to reach for her, but the moment he saw the sheer, unyielding ice in her expression, he didn’t dare touch her. His arm fell uselessly back to his side.
“I’ve stayed by your side these past three years… not just for Amara, but to make it up to you… I wanted to see you fully recover.”
If he had only known…
If he had known he would end up falling for her.
