The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 232

Chapter 232

Audrey was finally in high spirits. She strolled lazily over to Silas, swinging her arms. “Oh my, I thought she was running after you, but it turns out she had her own agenda to handle… Well, that puts my mind at ease.”

The man glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. “You seem thrilled.”

“Of course.”

Audrey tilted her chin up to meet his gaze. “Seeing you miserable makes me happy. It’s not like you just figured that out today.”

“Right.” Silas hummed, his face still devoid of expression. “I hope you drop dead.”

Who talked like that!

Silas turned and walked away. He had an earpiece in, naturally assuming someone was guiding him.

This man didn’t have much real talent, but he sure loved to put on a show.

She heard he had always been like this.

Whenever he went out, he never needed a guide dog or a person beside him. Instead, a bodyguard or assistant would follow from a distance, giving him directions through an earpiece.

So what if he was blind?

Did he have to be so pretentious about it?

Audrey’s eyes darted around, and a mischievous idea gleefully took shape in her mind.

Ten minutes later, Silas was walking through the lounge area while on a call. A sudden issue had popped up with the project over here, and he needed to check it out personally.

“Yeah, I’ll be there in about forty minutes. Make sure the signed contracts are flawless first.”

Saying that, he hung up.

The next second, his footsteps abruptly stopped.

A foot in front of him lay a row of cardboard.

And piled on top of the cardboard was horse manure.

A prank this arrogant and childish-he didn’t even have to guess who was behind it. A sliver of ice flashed through his eyes, and without changing his expression, he lifted his long legs and stepped effortlessly right over it.

Audrey instantly lost her cool, jumping out and shouting, “Stop right there!”

The man stopped but didn’t turn around.

“Silas Sterling!”

Chapter 232

Audrey marched around to the front, staring suspiciously into his eyes. “You managed to dodge that Are you faking your blindness?”

Silas shifted his gaze slightly, letting it land on her angry face.

This image overlapped with their childhood.

[Silas Sterling, you’re not allowed to leave!]

Perhaps those memories still carried a bit of warmth, pressing down the flare of anger that had just risen in his chest.

He let out a heavy, exasperated breath and said slowly, “Audrey, I have things to do. I don’t have time to play your games.”

“Who’s playing games?”

Audrey pressed her lips together. “Apologize to me!”

“Apologize for what?”

“How many years did you bully me? You didn’t think I’d just let it go, did you? Let me tell you, I, Audrey Huxley, have never taken a loss, and I won’t start with you!”

Ever since she had taken over her family’s business, she had been fighting with Silas both openly and in the shadows for a long time, but she had never won a single round!

She just didn’t buy it!

Was Silas some kind of god?

How could a person not have weaknesses? She was determined to make him yield!

Silas raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, his tone maintaining a sliver of patience. “Move. If you want to throw a tantrum, pick another day and I’ll play along.”

“Who’s throwing a tantrum? You have to apologize today!”
