Chapter 233
As she spoke, she wrapped both arms tightly around the man’s arm, acting as if he were some priceless treasure that she wouldn’t let anyone else covet.
Audrey’s face went from pale to red as she snapped furiously, “Why would I ever like him? Am I insane? You’re the only one who treats him like a prize… Get out, get out of here! Just looking at you two makes me sick!”
She spun around and stormed off. Vivian kept her arm hooked through Silas’s as they got into the car.
She fired off a text message to Charlie before shifting her attention back to the man beside her.
“Hey.”
The man kept his eyes closed, offering only silence.
She shook his arm, a bright smile on her face. “Hello? Anyone home?”
Simon, who was driving in the front seat, shot a quick glance at the rearview mirror.
Miss Fairchild had completely given Mr. Sterling the cold shoulder for the past two days and had even come to Hartford on her own. Of course he was annoyed.
After all this time, hadn’t she figured it out yet?
The boss was a deeply repressed, prideful man.
Sure enough, no matter how much Vivian called out to him, he remained as silent as a corpse, completely ignoring her.
“Silas!” Vivian dropped his arm, looking genuinely irritated now. “I just went out of my way to get rid of a headache for you, and this is the attitude I get?”
Silas let out a heavy breath, exhaling the unexplainable irritation that had been building in his chest along with it.
His dark eyes locked onto the woman in front of him.
She was radiant, charming, and utterly unpredictable.
She had a thousand different faces. Whether she was in the right or completely in the wrong, she could spin her words to make herself sound perfectly justified.
“How did the partnership talks with Gregory go?”

The man’s deep, magnetic voice hummed right by her ear. Vivian’s gaze froze for a split second, but she quickly recovered, leaning in with a teasing smile. “What’s this? Are you starting to take an interest in my work?”
Silas smirked, a hint of undefinable mockery in the curve of his lips.
“What do you think?”
“I think you should.”

Chapter 233
Vivian shifted slightly and leaned back, her upper body almost flush against the car door. She kicked off her shoes and propped her legs right onto the man’s lap, her wine-red pedicure making her smooth skin look even more flawless.
Silas frowned. He knew that if he pushed them off, she would just put them right back, so he didn’t bother wasting the energy, acting as if he hadn’t noticed.
He might not have realized this subtle shift in his tolerance, but Vivian certainly did.
She flashed a brilliant smile. “Since it’s a project invested in by Sterling Group, it doesn’t matter if I succeed or fail, but I definitely won’t let you lose money.”
“So, you’re saying I should be thanking you?”
“No need. Just give me a kiss and we’re even.”
Silas had no patience for her nonsense. He closed his eyes again, his voice dropping low. “Get your feet off me.”
“Fine.”
