The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 234

Chapter 234

The two in the back seat didn’t speak again. Simon took the hint and drove straight back to Silas’s

hotel.

By the time they arrived, the sky was completely dark.

Silas turned his head to look at the woman beside him.

She was resting against his shoulder, entirely motionless, fast asleep.

In this moment, her face was soft and serene, her complexion luminous and breathtakingly beautiful.

Simon had investigated her entire background. The eldest daughter of the Fairchild family, her history seemed perfectly clean, but there was a solid five-year gap of complete nothingness.

From the moment Dominic Fairchild sent her abroad, it was as if she had turned invisible. There was no trace of her, no rumors, no footprints. Given her explosive personality, was that even possible?

And then there was this-

Did she really marry him just for the sake of a business alliance?

This woman was a walking enigma.

Silas’s breathing grew slightly heavier. When Simon opened the car door from the outside, Silas grit his teeth and, ultimately, scooped her up into his arms and carried her upstairs.

Before they even reached the elevator, Vivian woke up.

She had originally planned to just keep pretending to sleep.

Unfortunately, the man carrying her didn’t have a single chivalrous bone in his body. The moment she stirred, he simply let go and dropped her right onto the floor.

“…Silas Sterling, would it kill you to be a little nicer to me?”

Silas half-narrowed his eyes. “Are you yelling at me?”

“So what if I am? I wake up cranky!”

“…”

Vivian crossed her arms and turned her face away, stepping back slightly but showing zero restraint with her words. “Other CEO boyfriends gently carry their girlfriends upstairs and tell everyone to keep quiet so they don’t wake her. But you? You literally drop me!”

“Weren’t you awake?”

“I was still trying to fake sleep!”

“…” She was actually defending this.

Silas couldn’t be bothered with her.

The elevator dinged, and he stepped out with his long legs.

“Wait for me!” Vivian shouted. She then turned to Simon and ordered, “Go find Charlie. My luggage is still at the other hotel. Bring it here for me.”

Simon instinctively responded with professional respect, “Yes, Miss.”

Wait… hold on. Was that right?

Vivian didn’t care to dwell on it. She immediately turned and chased after the man into the suite.

The moment she stepped inside, she nearly crashed right into his chest.

He had just taken off his suit jacket. The broad, structured lines of his physique were visible beneath his dress shirt. With the top two buttons undone, the distinct ridges of his muscles made it hard to look away.

Vivian seized the opportunity to throw her arms around him. “You were seriously awful just now.”

Silas didn’t move, letting her cling to him.

His voice was cold. “How was I awful?”
