The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 272

Chapter 272

As he entered the office, Vivian waved at him enthusiastically. “Hi!”

Simon politely returned the smile, only to accidentally lock eyes with his boss’s freezing glare the moment he turned his head.

His smile vanished instantly, and he sped up his movements.

After setting all the food out on the coffee table…

Simon took a massive step back, lowering his gaze. “Mr. Sterling, Miss Fairchild, enjoy your meal. Let me know if you need anything else.”

Seeing that neither of them said a word, he practically bolted out of the office.

“Look at you. You’re so mean all the time that your own assistant is terrified of you.”

Silas didn’t even look at her, simply picking up his silverware to start eating.

One, two, three…

She couldn’t stay quiet for even ten seconds before a sweet fragrance drifted closer, and the woman’s soft voice murmured, “I tweaked my lower back earlier. How about you feed me?”

The man’s fork paused, his voice remarkably steady.

“Do you eat with your lower back?”

“I was doing all the moving earlier. Do you know how hard that is on the lower back? I’m exhausted.”

If anyone else had heard that, the misunderstanding would be catastrophic.

Silas maintained his composure, placing some food onto her plate.

It was all vegetables.

Vivian didn’t complain about the selection, but-

“I want meat.”

Silas couldn’t help but let out an exasperated sigh, setting his fork down.

He looked up at her, his warning glare sharp and boundary-less. “That’s enough. You’ve caused enough chaos for one day. If you don’t behave, you know what happens, right?”

It was a clear threat: push her luck any further, and he would lose his temper.

He had her pegged perfectly.

Vivian pressed her lips together and obediently picked up her fork.

She preferred heavier flavors, so while she could eat the bland dishes, having a completely plain meal didn’t stimulate her appetite at all.

After picking out two small pieces of meat and eating them, she put her fork down.

‘I’m done.”

“Done, or full?”

“…”

“Finish your vegetables and eggs, and I’ll hold you when we sleep tonight.”

“…” Wait, what?

Did this man just have a personality transplant?

Vivian stared at him with a bizarre expression, but Silas didn’t react. He just continued eating at a leisurely pace, his posture elegant and dignified.

Since they both knew what had happened in front of their very eyes, there was no point in pretending

anymore.

Vivian still didn’t know why he had kept his feelings hidden, but since he wasn’t admitting it, she wasn’t going to force his hand.

But was he serious about what he just said, or joking?

Whatever.

A win was a win.

After hesitating for a long moment, she picked her fork back up.

They didn’t speak again. Halfway through the meal, Silas stepped aside to take a phone call. When he finished, he didn’t return to the food but went straight to his desk to handle some paperwork.

Vivian kept stealing glances at him. Some people just had that kind of magnetic pull; merely sitting there, he radiated a captivating, composed gentleness. But his gentleness was different from others-it was threaded with a subtle, intoxicating danger.

He was a total feast for the eyes.
